Holdgate Church
Holy Trinity Church in Holdgate, Shropshire was recorded in the 11th century but the current church dates from the 12th century. The nave is the oldest section of the church and includes a highly ornamented south doorway. The tower and chancel were added in the 13th century. The south porch was built in the 14th century.Part of the nave became a schoolroom in the late 18th century. Restorations took place in 1854 and 1894.The font is especially interesting, intricately carved with foliage, woven designs and a dragon.
