As a semi frequent visitor to this costa I always leave with the same frustration, the young lady whom I assume is in charge. The way that she speaks to the other women that she works with is vile and it’s always in plain sight too. She’s rude, obnoxious, self loathing + intolerable. Some of the situations I’ve seen could be handle with the minimal amount of guidance, yet she insists on being rude and talking down on them at every possible opportunity. It makes me feel uncomfortable and I’m sure other customers have noticed it too.Well done to the others that work there, always provided good customer service with no gripes!

The two girls serving were more interested in a chat than being warm to customers. Hardly any service. Bare minimum. They also need to smile more, it adds warmth to service and makes people want to go back in.

Colchester needs more late-afternoon coffee shops to increase it's City profile. We hope this Costa will stay open until 8-9pm! Not everyone wants a pub or cocktails for a late outing!Update: We have visited this Costa now that it is opened. It has a lovely atmosphere and view, two storey, and sockets everywhere for people with laptops. I love their hot chocolate with oat milk, sweet thickness. They also offer M&S food! However, they hugely lack on the dessert & cakes department! No muffins or cakes at all yet, which is a bit disappointing.Another wonderful aspect though, is that it stays open until 7pm everyday, which is refreshingly welcomed, instead of closing earlier like other coffee shops do. For winter months 7pm closing time is decent, but we hope in summer months they stay open until 9pm. We'll definitely be visiting this shop more often :)

This is my go-to cafe... Service can be a little slow at busy times, since there is only one till.Local kids tend to gather inside sometimes and make a bit of noise, but I've seen staff send them out, which is a good thing.

I bought an apple juice my friend bought some crisps and one of the staff who i had been served from the previous day came up to us and said have you bought anything , so we said yes , her response was “well that could of been bought in tesco” and i asked if she’d like proof from our bank app. she continued to tell us to calm down when we weren’t even angry or shouting we were simply just trying to explain after being accused of sitting in costa without buying anything. so then she told us she didn’t want proof so the whole conversation was completely pointless because she didn’t even care in the end. The previous day she was serving an older lady in front of me at the tills and she was being quite blunt , the women ordering was being quite fussy however i work in my hospitality myself and i know the customers needs come before the difficulty of us making them the drink. the women apologised for being fussy and she just ignored her!! She was rude and had no customer treatment skills.
