Quality Stitches of Carlisle

I used Quality Stitches for years as I was happy with the alterations they did and the staff were generally helpful; that is until I took £600 of clothing (3 items) in for fairly basic alterations, and I even gave them an item I wanted copied for size, length etc and said ‘if in doubt, please just leave them a little bit long or leave some fabric inside so we can fine tune if necessary’.I was told it would take about 1 week. When I politely asked if that’s how long it usually takes to make similar adjustments the young lady who works there told me ‘most of our customers aren’t as fussy as you’ - and not in a jokey way.When I returned to collect and try the items on all 3 were too short.3 brand new items unwearable. When I compared the item I wanted copied to the altered items in front of the man who works there (I think he’s the owner) and told him the items were too short he said ‘are you joking?’ then said something about the items being a different fit to the original anyway - which is something they could’ve warned me of so the items could’ve been left longer.The atmosphere turned very sour, I’d already paid for the alterations, and got no apology, and I was made to feel like I was in the wrong.Maybe he was in a bad mood that day, maybe he was trying to protect the lady who works there (I think it’s his daughter). Regardless, he could’ve been a lot more polite and helpful, maybe even a small apology and refunded me for the alteration cost. But, no. Quality Stitches may know a lot more than I do about tailoring, but their attitude and customer service is something they really need to work on.

I had an amazing experience with Quality Stitches Carlisle, they made a trouser to perfection for my spouse. He was very kind, patient, and listened carefully to our specification, the outcome of the job was very neat, meticulous, ironed and immediately ready to wear.I absolutely recommend him and would definitely be back again soon

Arrived at 11.30 and asked if hem of jeans could be turned up.Jean's were ready for collection at 2pm.Excellent professional service.

Really pleased with the service here. 3 pairs of trousers shortened. Excellent job at a good price. I will be returning with any/all alterations in the future. Also I’d read the review about him being a little grumpy. Not in my experience, really lovely and helpful. X

Had my wedding suit altered (jacket sleeve and trouser leg lengthened and jacket taken in) and the outcome is incredible. Only took a one week turnaround and a great price too! Thank you so much for your service!

Amazing service, came in with a bridesmaid dress to adjust the size and length. Fixed it within the time and for a great price, overall extremely happy with the service and will be coming back. I have already recommended this place to my family and friends!!

Very rude and unprofessional, I took several items in to be altered for my wedding, having never needed anything altered before I was unaware of the current rates. After naively accepting the prices given to me (bar one I knew was completely over) I spoke to other shops who where mortified at just how much they where charging me for even the simplest of a junior suit pants hem (£25 when other places range from £9-£12) I then went in the following day to ask for some, not all but some of my things back just to go to compare the price with another place to be met with a NO! and a load of grief off the daughter, I apologized and said I appreciated that I had agreed to the prices the day before but I was unaware that they where in fact charging me close to double the rate of any other shop, she then called her dad out and the pair then proceeded to give me both barrels. I had to threaten to phone the police just to get them to agree that they where actually going to give me my items back!I was called a time waster (she said I was in 2 hours pinning my wedding dress, bridesmaid dress and sons suit but I only payed for 1 hour parking in the lanes so including the walk there and back with 3 kids I was nowhere near 2 hours and was only in for at max 15min in the morning with my maid of honor as she had to get to work) and was repeatedly told by the daughter that I was a 'bad guy' and that I had cost her money(they didn't turn anyone away while I was there, I agreed the the price at closing time and was back there just after opening time the next day so no time to turn anyone away there either, no customer was lost bar my own due to me), all this was accompanied by some very loud and condescending tutting by both.after all this my items including my wedding dress where thrown at me onto the counter and the pins ripped out them (they actually snagged the material on my wedding dress when doing so but luckily it is in a place you wouldn't be able to tell once it is hemmed), had I not had my maid of honor with me I probably would have cried at how aggressive and intimidating they where being towards me!I can't comment on the quality of workmanship from this shop as my review states I ended up taking my items elsewhere but the customer service I received even before all this unfolded was sub par at best, I was never given a sense of ease that my items where in good hands which is what you really need when your wedding dress, bridesmaid dress and son's suit are in them! I feel they sensed my naivety and took advantage when pricing and become very bully like when I clicked on (albeit a bit later than desired)although I expected them to be a little miffed that I was was potentially pulling some things away form their service I NEVER expected that I, as a nearly 30 year old woman would be told off like a naughty child infront of my friend and daughter, absolutely appalling and unjustifiable!had they not gone straight to beratement I would have offered to pay for the 1 hour max time that I took up (between 2 same day drop ins)all in all a terrible experience!EDIT: since receiving my bad review they have now received a suspicious 7! 5* reviews in 1 hour (all between 12am-1am!), all from people who have either never reviewed anything ever or have only reviewed things nowhere near Carlisle/UK.after averaging 1 review per 6 months for the past 5 years, if that, I can only assume this is a desperate attempt to get their star rating back up!please ask about before using this shop (I wish I had) as apparently you cant trust the good reviews are even real at this point.
