James is a phenomenal guitar teacher. I started taking lessons from him a year ago having never touched a guitar before. The progress we’ve made has been excellent. I’ve been very happy with the detail he’s included in every lesson. He has tailored the lessons to my liking and interests.All materials are made readily available after each lesson. I couldn’t be more grateful for contacting him a year ago. Very excited to continue to learn from him and grow into a better musician! Thanks James!10/10 - would absolutely recommend to all.

I’m a student currently and I have been for quite a while now. The lessons are very enjoyable. Usually teachers will teach you about the music they like and the music they listen to but in these lessons you are asked about the music you enjoy and what you want to learn and achieve from the lessons. I am taught all about guitar playing whether it’s technique, theory, tips such as how to play faster and smoother and how to play songs that I like while at the same time also being fun and exciting. If you or anyone you know wants to learn guitar I recommend these lessons or at least trying them out.

James is a fantastic teacher and role model for our 11 year old boy, who has been learning guitar with him for just over a year now. Our son gets not only top class technical and theoretical knowledge from James, but is also getting an entire musical education, coming home inspired by all the classic bands and musicians that James has introduced him too. Our son is now confident and playing his guitar fluently. James is extremely patient and has gone out of his way to be very flexible re swapping lesson times / days when needed. You can tell he really loves music and has a passion for teaching. Couldn't recommend him highly enough.

I’ve been having lessons with James since mid February and even in lockdown am continuing with weekly Skype lessons. James is very patient and able to make learning to play acoustic guitar a very enjoyable experience. I feel I am definitely progressing well and the materials James provides are pitched at the right level for me whilst keeping it interesting. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him.

James is a very punctual and consistent in his teaching, I have been taking with him for 2-3 months and has never missed a lesson and never been late, he is extremely reliable and very patient, he will always try different ways to teach and always adapts to situations which makes him a excellent teacher. I would recommend him to anyone who wishes to learn.

We moved from another guitar tutor to James as we were disappointed with the tuition being received by my son and we were so glad we did. He has brought my son on lots and has a good structured approach to teaching which gives us more confidence. James is a nice guy who is friendly and professional and willing to accommodate the needs of the pupil. Highly recommended.

When I retired in my 60’s recently I decided to learn guitar for my own entertainment. The music I like is electric blues and rock from the 70’s up to current days. So after buying a decent guitar and amp, I searched YouTube for tips on playing, finding a wealth of stuff but all of it a bit random. I thought I needed some structure & direction. So I decided to have lessons and via a internet search of local teachers I came across James.That was a stroke of luck. James is a proper musician, he knows music inside out in theory & practice. Even though a lot of the music I favour was probably recorded before James was even born, he knows all the greats like Clapton, Hendrix, Page so he’s able to targetthe lessons his gives me towards that sort of genre. I’m not the greatest of students either but James is very patient, and it’s great fun, he’s a good teacher and I look forward to my weekly lesson.I’d recommend anyone who wants to learn or improve their guitar technique to book a lesson with James.
