Great service, friendly staff. A gem hidden in plain sight. Went in for a coffee with kids but decided to try some food as it looked interesting. Unfortunately didn't have in what I'd ordered so the owner said they'd make up a curried version. It was fantastic. Flavourful and great value. Better than most evening restaurants. I feel they should advertise their 'house' dishes more as they're really interesting and different from anything else in Huddersfield (cakes and burgers). Will definitely return.

Lady working was blunt and no customer service. When I started saying my order the man stopped me and talked with someone else. Then received the wrong order. Toilets were not signed and had to ask the chef upstairs where they were. Nice interior, terrible everything else. Would not go again.

Really disappointing. We drove 1 hour to sample some Mauritian food as we ourselves are Mauritian. We got there a bit early and she said they would serve breakfast and lunch despite us being early. When trying to order she says no Mauritian food until 12.30, so we would have to come back in an hour. I had my month old baby with me so explained if she could guarantee they would be making it as I don’t want to hang around for nothing. She says to ring in 1 hour. I rang twice with no answer so after an hour walked back to the restaurant and was greeted by the gentleman who stated they are not serving Mauritian food today and when they do it’s after 4pm? So we were given false information and completely wasted our time. Unfortunately we will not be returning.

Lovely small cafe with a cosy, homely feel to it. Food was great and they serve a proper size brew! Now Edwards has closed down, this is my new place to eat lunch when visiting my friend in Huddersfield.

The Mauritian food is excellent. I think there are better cafes in Huddersfield for traditional afternoon teas and other reviews would reflect this, but the curry, calves liver, gateau piments and chutneys are fabulous and we shall definitely return.

Tried this place a few times and in all honesty it gets worse every time.The latest addition of jumble sale cheap discounted duvets in the window is the icing on the cake really as well as poor service. It isn’t a good addition to Huddersfield

Passable food, although some of the Maurician meals sounded nice. We had afternoon tea and it was very basic. We didn't get cream with the scone or salad as advertised. So dissapointing. Staff wasn't very friendly either

Popped in with my daughter for a coffee ended up trying the Mauritian beef curry. Now I’ve eaten a lot of curries and have to say this was honestly one of the tastiest I’d ever eaten! Beautifully cooked and a wonderful friendly family, what an absolute gem of a place!

We stopped by this morning for a breakfast and were very pleasantly surprised. The food is superb, fresh and the service was friendly. Good portion sizes and good coffee! Would recommend and we are looking forward to returning again next week.

Ordered the Mauritian breakfast, not sure what to expect as I foolishly didn't read the menu. What arrived was this ... Looks like a meatball sub but has the most amazing chilli bhaji type cakes with salad and cheese. Chili is hot and well flavoured, coffee tasted a little odd, but I usually have a specific blend so may well be that it's just not what I am used to but overall I don't understand why this place was as quiet as it is.
