The staff here were amazing, I didn't have a clue what I was asking for as it was a surprise gift for my husband, they found a perfect guitar for him and it was ready to pick up just 2 days later despite having to order it in especially for me. I ended up buying a second guitar too!! They helped me tune them and didn't laugh at my stupid questions. They honestly couldn't do enough for me, even replying to questions outside of work hours. Amazing customer service and expertise! I would recommend to anybody! Thanks ajit and staff :)

Great service from a knowledgeable owner.I needed a half size violin for my son who has just started violin lessons in his school. Ajit, the owner, gave very honest advice and recommended a good second hand violin to which he added new strings and a new bow, all for a very reasonable price.They also have music rooms in the basement for lessons.

I can't speak highly enough of Ajit the owner of this shop.I have just bought an instrument advertised online and the service I have received, over the phone initially and subsequently by text messaging, has been exemplary. A really genuine person and a pleasure to do business with.I have no hesitation in recommending this business.

Both the shop and the music school are superb. The shop is a family-run business and all the staff very quickly get to know their customers and get on first-name terms with them. Their stock is very comprehensive, and any music they haven't got can be ordered for you and arrives rapidly. As for the music school, I've been having drum lessons for over 2 years and one of my kids had piano lessons there. I'm very happy with the service and the prices are reasonable. I also like the location of the music school underneath a Wetherspoon's pub, enabling me to kill two birds with one stone on lesson days ...

I was very impressed with their costumer service, support and knowledge. I had to buy a violin for my daughter last month but I’m completely ignorante in the subject. The person that help me was extremely knowledgeable and caring, suggested what was best for my daughter and not necessarily what costs more... she will soon grow her violin out and I will go back to them time and time again, in fact I think if my daughter is ready we will start taking extra lessons there! Thank you for all your help, information and patience!

Ebony & Ivory are an absolutely superb music shop and a perfect example of a wonderful local, independent music shop. The shop has been trading for as long as I can remember, I am now in my late 20's and I remember buying my piano books from them as a young schoolboy of around 11 years old.I felt compelled to write this review as It's always amazingly reassuring to know that I have such a terrific music shop which is only a short walk up the road and is a place where I can buy anything from new quality strings for my guitar as well as a new guitar capo, the latter I purchased from them just today. I can even purchase a beautiful new piano if I were on the look out for one.The staff and owners of the shop are all sincerely lovely people and they ensure that it is always an absolute pleasure to pop in, say hello and have a little look around the store.I will be back there again very soon indeed - I'll be straight there as soon as I need new guitar strings for sure :-)

I highly recommend my daughter’s piano teacher Gerado; he’s very skilled, patient, and has a fantastic teaching style that makes learning enjoyable. My daugther has achieved so much.

Purchased a Yamaha piano from here and I was very pleased with the experience. The owner was very pleasant and explained everything to me. There is a certain level of accountability which you don't get with online purchasing; whereas here I was reassured that if anything goes wrong I can always return and they will resolve any problems.

Took an old 15 years plus, broken and damaged Pignose travel guitar with integral amp and speaker that had seen the band end of a 'mock'(ahem) stage fight.(damage included split neck, damaged speaker, cable sockets and control knobs, and damaged strap attachments, broken string heads) .The shop were optimistic about its repair.. me less so ..Tony the shop's guitar tech did an astonishing almost bionic man overhaul and near total rebuild rewiring, glueing sticking and replacing speaker, control knobs, switch mechanisms, he made the split neck fixed and almost remachined, ank kindly fixed the battery housing, popped in a new battery and strings and fixed the action and neck tension.OMG its AWESOME it sounds better than it did before! The speaker has been set to gently give a perfect 'start of waterfall stone roses' gentle,humming feedback at total full gain (if you cup your hand over the pickup) and you can carefully play over it, or negate it by gently touching the lower E. it sounds great and i keep using it as a stylistic start to playing.Im supremely pleased to get part of my history back, but also everytime I went into the shop, everyone is always a pleasure to deal with, there always seems to be someone popping in and out for lessons or advice and the whole feel of the shop and teaching area is extremely positive personably friendly and helpful..They were careful to take 'before' photos and to keep in touch by text about progress and decisions, and made everything very easy.What a great experience!

Our Casio digital piano needed checking and repair as a number of keys weren't working. Picked Ebony and Ivory at random from Google and struck gold! Great friendly service, good advice and quick work. Piano returned to me in full working order and at a cost lower than the guide price given when I left it with them. 100% recommended.
