We have visited Ballydougan many times for lunch, and I have always been very pleased with the dish presentation, food temperature and taste quality. Yesterday I had the Lemon and pepper chicken ciabatta with some of the best large chunky chips I have ever tasted. Staff are always pleasant and helpful, and the restaurant is a very relaxed dining experience.

Restaurant food and decor are just fantastic. Really has a cosy atmosphere. Also...ordered a Lemon Cake for a birthday...the quality was amazing like a star Baker cake from GBBO.

Food was just ok. We both had a sandwich and at nearly £8 each they were for sure nothing special. I'm sure lots of other people enjoy there but I probably won't return.

A menu that is trying too hard to seem fancy, but not hitting the mark on quality or service.Food that was ordered was “warm marinated chicken & bacon on ciabatta bread topped with cheese and balsamic glaze”, what arrived was chicken curry covered in balsamic, no cheese and a questionable amount of bacon (does none count?) The “marinade” (or curry sauce, for a better explanation of it, as this is not stated on the menu) and the glaze do not work together. This was the second order we had to send back, after one of our other orders requested chips instead of mash and arrived with meat on top of mash. A simple mistake however this set the tone for the rest of the meal. A poor attitude from the waitress when we had to send the food back, as I tried to explain that the menu does not reflect the food that was served and I got a defensive remark back. If the food had been correctly described on the menu, it would not have been ordered.Fish goujons were very nice. The chips they were served with were also good, however these are huge and would be known more commonly as wedges rather than chips.A quaint little spot, but the overall experience was poor and in the current climate people look for value for money, which isn’t what we got. Overpriced food and drink; the menu needs to be reflective of what food is being served, and the service level for the money being spent here needs improvement.

We had a fabulous lunch with my cousin today. Our meals were superb but my pavlova and hot Chocolate was to die for. The pavlova was the nicest I've ever had, honestly! The hot Chocolate was really Chocolatey, unlike some places that fail to realise how important that is! We'll definitely be back. The staff were really friendly and helpful too! Thanks everyone ☺️
