This pub/restaurant is a wonderful find. Each time we have visited we have received a friendly welcome.Today the weather was wintry so to walk into a warm, cosy environment was lovely.Our food was really delicious and all 4 Indian dishes were cooked to perfection.This restaurant deserves to do well and we will be returning again. The food was outstanding. Amazing curry, naan and rice! The best Indian food we’ve ever had. The service was outstanding, very kind and caring staff. The cook approached us towards the end of our meal in order to check up on how it was and speaking to him was a pleasure. The waiter was very patient and helpful as well. Lovely atmosphere and interior and reasonable prices. I’ll definitely be stopping by here with my boyfriend again the next time we drive past!

It was a fantastic place to stop on the way back from the New Forest and refreshing to have the choice of an excellent curry menu and pub classics. The food was excellent, and the service was speedy, which was perfect for our pause in a long journey. The chicken shaslic, butter chicken, and lamb rogan. Thank you!

This has changed since we were last there, it's now more of a restaurant. It used to be a proper old pub, so at first we were a bit disappointed but we sat down and ordered some drinks and looked at the menu which is mostly Indian curries although pub grub is also on there. Even though it was lunchtime we all had a curry and they were REALLY GOOD curries. We will go back again even tho it's about 10 miles away.

Lovely lunch today.Went for the Indian menu it was delicious.10/10. They also serve pub classics they looked great to.Pub style with authentic Indian food.Would highly recommend if that’s what you’re looking for.

We loved our food so much we went back again! This pub serves a mix of Indian food and pub favorites for an excellent price and top quality ingredients.On both occasions we were given a complimentary dish from the chef which was delicious.This place is a real gem on the edge of the New Forest.Plenty of parking available too.

Updated July 2023: Sir John Barleycorn has recently been taken over by yet another new owner and is consequently under new management. We had dinner there last night, the was super tasty. I do t eat coriander and they arranged my butter chicken to be totally coriander free which was a real treat. We had really crunchy tasty poppadoms and onion bhajis to start with. All in all, if you like really good Northern Indian food, go there. Thank you Maj and crew, we will back.

This is a lovely thatched pub. Plenty of parking. This was our second visit with the new owners. Food has been great on both occasions, we’ve had the Indian food which smells divine when you enter, as well as the usual pub classics. The staff are welcoming & attentive & it was great to meet the chef. Could tone down the lighting for a more candle or low lit ambience. Will be back soon & recommending to others!

If I could give it 10 stars I would! Beautiful curry, very reasonably priced, staff couldn’t do enough and chef very accommodating! Plus complimentary mini starter and delicious chocolate at the end! Only slight draw back was atmosphere due to it being very quiet but this will improve with time once word gets out about how great this place is! Support local everyone!
