Failed 3 times in this test centre first 2 test was with the same examiner I feel like different examiners has different opinions about the roads once I was going 20mph in school area the examiner wanted me to go 30mph so I did. When I finished I spoke to my instructor he was like even though this examiner said that to go 30mph around school area if it was another examiner would want me to go 20mph it’s really hard to make them happy when all of them has their own rules about roads and speed.

I just passed my test today on my first attempt with one minor fault while reversing at the end of the test at the test centre. The examiner was really nice, his name is Gavin. Professional, and we had good conversations. Just don’t be nervous do your best. Do all mirrors, blindspot check before moving off thats very important and Im sure you will pass. Also, I have experience of driving at home country for 5 years now may be a plus point for me. But do all the practice and get good instructor you will pass.

Con artists, had around 30 hours of training driving Hgv and I’ve already got 4 years experience driving a car. I can’t understand how I’ve failed my test 3 times this test is not hard but these jokers will class a minor fault as a serious just to get more money out of you. I’ve spent almost £3000 trying to get my license and have failed once again for something I can’t understand to be a serious fault. Thanks to this test centre I will no longer be trying to get my licence as the test is inexcusably difficult and nit picky dvla need to look into these tests for Hgv drivers because why is it so difficult? Especially when theres a Hgv driver shortage.

Passed a Bredbury today 1st December 2023This is a positive review of the HGV LGV test at Bredbury. To start I want to say a big thankyou to examiner Chris who was professional, friendly and fair. Chris immediately puts you at ease for the first part ‘show me tell me’ and for the second part the 3B on-road test that you will be fairly assessed. I had done my revision so was confident I had passed all the questions.I appreciate my on-road test drive wasn’t perfect, overall, he evaluated that I was a safe and competent to drive a Class 1 Artic and thankfully passed me today Friday 1st December 2023.To add, Chris will give you a detailed briefing on any faults (what you did wrong and when in the test) so should you not get through then at least you can learn for next time or if you pass for your driving going forward. Asking if you want your instructor present and briefing you first before the result doesn’t mean you have failed as I found out. Phew! This was my first test attempt at Bredbury, and my second HGV test attempt as two weeks earlier I had my confidence knocked down by a previous fail at Kirkham test centre where I had no briefing at all. So well done to Bredbury.I really appreciated the time Chris took to explain to me some points to watch out for and a particular awkward hill junction which although I thought I had handled it well and safely, I understood the discussion by Chris on that aspect.Really please over this big hurdle. Now next step is to try an build up some experience. Big thanks to Bredbury and Examiner Chris, your helping to keep Britain moving!Notes about test centre and areaThe Bredbury centre has a garage nearby and toilets in the test centre itself. I thought it was pretty good but watch out for that 10mph limit in the centre. The vicinity around the Bredbury is surrounded by industrial estates right on the motorway junction. I visited a week before and drove around on a Friday, but it was motorbike day so alas no HGV stalking. There are so many test routes here so you probably won’t benefit that much trying to second guess where you might go in advance of the test.I can only say that when I first arrived before my HGV test my instructor stated that at Bredbury that as you come out the centre road they rarely go right under the low bridge and over the motorway bridge to the small double roundabouts, but some HGVs do wait there pre-test. Most of the time they turn left and go up to the garage junction and lights.Other than that, there isn’t any more information I can assist with other than be prepared for traffic. I thought traffic was ‘on par’ to London. When I did recon in my car the previous Friday it was especially bad when the industrial estates finish. Hope helps H

Given the circumstances i found my instructor was intimidating and icy, I was already on edge so this didn't help. I know its very by the book but I went st Helens and passed, the instructor there was friendlier yet equally as professional. I think they spook you on purpose so you lose your nerve and pay up 2 or 3 times. So long robocop!

It's very busy with limited on site parking, but plenty on the main road outside. Greggs in a petrol station within walking distance and McDonald's a five minute drive away. The centre was very clean and tidy, well looked after with accessible toilet. Staff were professional and helpful.

Avoid this test centre if your doing your HGV. It's a complete lottery if you pass or fail, depending on how the examiners is feeling on the day.The result has no reflection or bearing on your ability to drive they simply make a excuse up to fail you. They don't care if your putting down £420 a time during a cost of living crises out of your own pocket. The examiners need to be investigated.
