GAIL's Bakery Berkhamsted

I can’t say enough about the terrific food and service I had this afternoon at this splendid restaurant! The atmosphere is clean and upbeat, the staff are friendly ( I was served by the manager Richard and Thea) and best of all the food is outstanding! I had a Parmesan chicken sandwich and a cinnamon roll and both items were delicious As for the coffee I had the best flat white in town, not too hot not too cold, just perfect. I will be back here very soon!

We have been here a few times for coffee. Today we have decided to do coffee and breakfast. Was greeted by Lauren again who is always exceptionally polite and eager to engage in conversation.Fiona also did the most amazing latte art and the coffee was great.We had baked boiled eggs with soldiers and bacon. Something different and we enjoyed it immensely. Atmosphere very relaxing. Thankyou.

Visited Gail's again today. As usual the staff were friendly and accommodating.The coffee and warmth of this place just hits different. Special shout out to Rich and Becca, who were very kind and welcoming to my little one. We will be back to try more of your recommendations soon! The Hazelnut bun... TOO DELICIOUS for words.

Gail’s does the best bread in town, I’m happy to pay the higher prices, and the cafe is open longer into the late afternoon than most others locally. So far so good. But in the four or five times I’ve used the cafe I’ve found the staff not to be customer-service oriented. A group of three of us had coffee there today (2/6/23). Three members of staff were working, the cafe tables were only half full and there was no queue at the counter. I have no issue with the table we wanted to sit at not having been wiped since the previous customer - maybe they had only just left. But when I pointed this out, and asked for a cloth, I half hoped the member of staff I spoke to would offer to wipe the table, especially as there were no other customers at the counter. They didn’t. Having wiped the table I then stood at the counter for a while with the cloth in one hand and crumbs in the other, until a (different) member of staff took the cloth and brought a bin. After half an hour our group ordered a second cup of coffee each. When these were ready - and again with very light traffic at the counter - the order was called for collection. It would have taken only a few seconds, would have been a nice touch, and regularly happens in other coffee shops, for the coffees to be brought out front, and the person who ordered them located. Higher prices should go with higher service levels, but regrettably at Gail’s in Berkhamsted they do not

Maybe it is the location but pricing is steep and quality could be better.The gluten free bread tasted like sand and the freshly packed salads were not as fresh.You can find tasty things but I had some issues after and noticed the freshness was not as good.They should keep stuff fresh especially with items containing fast perishable ingredients, even if it is late afternoon this should be considered.

Having recently visited Gail's in London, my boyfriend and I decided to visit the Berkhamstead one as its closer to home.We had a lovely time visiting yesterday. It was spacious with plenty of seating, staff were very lovely, food and drinks were great. Will definitely return in the future. Thank you!

I love coming to Gail's for my lunch, the food is always fresh and delicious. I love the bagels and the sourdough and the brownies are just the best. The staff are always so friendly and ask me how my day is, its a nice personal touch. Thank you, see you in the week.
