U Drive Van Hire (Bolton)

Agree with previous review poor service,Van's in unroadworthy condition and an owner with a terrible attitude who is not interested in anything other than money in the till.Served by a lady and a young girl and hired van Sat morning.No mention of procedures regarding breakdowns or fuel or mileage charges just constantly reminded of closing at 10.30am and ushered out as everyone was in a rush to go home,reopened the following Monday.Quick check over the van from outside and noticed damage to virtually every panel including the front(see photos)...not a van I would be hiring out looked ready for scrapping.As my partner drove the van (with myself in the passenger seat) the engine management light came on,shortly after the abs warning light then the stability control light.We used the van to move a few boxes then my partner refused to drive it so we went home.(see photos)Returned to the office on the Monday at 9am.I explained the issues to the owner who said to me this is why no one likes to hire Van's out as people just complain.He went on to say the warning lights would only be sensors and asked why we didn't ring in.I told him that we didn't know what to do as no one had bothered to explain anything to us.Paid £175 for the weekend,owner didn't compensate for the lack of use ,very arrogant and unhelpful.ONLY USE IF ABSOLUTELY DESPERATE THIS MAN DOES NOT DESERVE BUSINESS!!!

Excellent service, my daughter was very pleased with the van hire, quick, efficient and clean and best prices we could find. Won't hesitate to hire again and recommend. Staff lovely too.

Shocking company and owner!Booked a van 3 days before pickup date. Arrived at 08:30am to the office to be told there were no vans available because all the keys had been misplaced! No other options offered considering there were 2 vans returned so he had 2 x keys for vans. Made me feel like it was my fault and left me standing in the cold for 45 minutes while he went off trying to find the keys.I was told £80 per day for a MWB van when I booked 3 days earlier to which he decided on the morning to say he wanted to add a mileage charge of 18p per mile. When I previously hired a month ago there was no mileage charge.I won't be using these guys ever again and hope you won't have the experience I had. Play it safer with a bigger more reputable company. There are many in Bolton who will treat you like a customer.

I booked a box van 9 days before the Friday I needed it, ½ hour before I was due to pick the van up, I received a call from U-drive to say there had been a brake in at the yard and the van's had been vandalised . I was then told that I could have the use of a Ford Transit. On arrival at the offices after the paperwork was done and the payment was taken, I was told the van was outside. To my astonishment, it was a small Transit van .On approaching the van, I noticed that it looked a little dirty, but that did not bother me. The inside of the cab was dirty but as I was moving house it didn't matter.When I was about to start loading the van, I opened the back doors to find it was full of dried soil see photos of some of the mess.It's obvious that you van HAD NOT, HAD AN INSPECTION before been given to me. As it was a 22 plate van, the condition was not the best (see photos)On taking the van back I tried to have a chat with the manager......he wasn't really interested, all he wanted to know was...is there enough fuel left in it.I would not recommend this firm to anyone, I would rather pay more and receive better treatment

An absolute disgrace of a company. I ordered a luton van to move house from Bolton to Taunton. On arrival, I waited more than thirty minutes past their opening time for someone to open the premises and upon collection, the back lights were broken and the roller shutter wouldn't open or close. I spent a lot of money organising this move and the owner's attitude was, ok, I'll refund you the money!I paid for a man to work for the day, I had all utilities and broadband disconnected from the property and his attitude was 'so what'?I will pursue this company for my losses, his refund means nothing. He took my money and therefore entered into a legally binding contract, despite his unenforceable smallprint.I will get redress from him, in court if necessary.

Hired a box van over weekend, from start to finish the customer experience was exceptional. The hire was great value for money and the staff in the office were very efficient. The chap on site explained how to use the tailgate and other functionality on the vanI will not hesitate in using this company again well done to all concerned (CC)

Excellent experience hiring a van at the weekend. Got let down by another much bigger company but the ladies at U Drive sorted me a brand new transit van for less than the other company we’re charging !The van was really easy to drive and paperwork was all done in advance.I will definitely recommend U Drive to everyone and I’ve already reserved a Luton Van to move house at the end of next month
