Only bottled ale but always a friendly reception. Pool table and big garden. It's a working man's pub in the best sense.

Not been here for food before and had heard about the new refurb/management so thought we would pop in and see whats changed from when we were last in (few yrs ago just for a drink then)anyways all seems nice, fresh coat of paint, new inside and outside furniture, play area, very friendly team.To eat we had homemade lasagna, chips with a side salad, was lovely but think the lasagna was missing the white sauce!?Over all its a nice family, friendly village pub.

Since reopening mid-March, The red lion has had a fresh overhaul. As always the atmosphere is calm and relaxed with open fires in each bar, but the food is on a new level. Phil wild the chef , is a master! Take your partner down there,, rent one of the rooms for the night and you never know you might get more than what you bargained for

This place looked nice when we walked in. However, the food was atrocious. We were a group of 4 and ordered: 2 x steak & ale pies, mixed grill, lemon and herb chicken. The two steak and ales were totally different. One was dark and the other was light. The meat in one pie was so tough and chewy that the owner had to compensate us with a free dessert after trying it himself and agreeing. My mixed grill was cooked to death, the chicken was dry and tasteless. The whole meal was obviously microwaved junk left over from the day before. It was certainly not freshly prepared. Every meal was tasteless and dry. It really ruined our trip to Oxford. The pub also filled up with very noisy 'yoofs' who made a lot of noise after we had been there a while. All in all, a place to avoid.

Good pub. Dropped in there with the lads after football, good selection of beers as it was October fest. Played a round of pool, and darts. Also got go out some decent music on as they have a juke box!Would go again.

The Red Lion Accommodation is excellent value for money. The proprietor is a very nice lady who went out of her way to meet my requirements.

I spent 3 very relaxing nights at the The Red Lion. The host Prathiba was naturally gracious with an infectious smile. The room was clean and set at the back of the property; which meant I had peaceful night's rest without the noise of traffic. One could tell there was attention to detail which helps. The bus stop was next door and the connections to Oxford and other villages were great. Most of all, it was excellent value for money.I'm definitely going back!R. Fernandes
