TIMBERYARD
Utterly delicious and full of surprising flavours, a perfect meal to enjoy in a beautiful location that will make you feel far away from the busy city for the duration of the experience.

I am regular fine dining goer. I am very happy with the food quality and the speed of food served. But i had expected better service for a Michelin restaurant. There were about 6 ppl working on the floor. Most of them did not make me feel welcome, and the service was rather robotic. One male staff made a ‘psst’ sound when he brought me a dish.I ordered kombucha because i am allergic to alcohol but i felt drowsy after half drink. Though i wasn’t completely if the reaction was caused by one of the dishes or the drink, i told the bartender and she made me another drink which i enjoyed it. However, no apology was offered. I was expected to be informed of the ingredients of my new drink, but no, no word was said. The female staff who joined the shift last was the only one made me feel relaxed. All in all, if the service doesn’t get improve, i wouldn’t recommend this place.

definitely lives up to the 1 star michelin that they are awarded toservice is top notch, waitress very attentive (my friend dropped her napkin from her lap, which we or even she is not even aware of, suddenly the waitress comes with a new one)best of the course for me :duck liver paté & scallop

Loved!! We were 45 minutes early (accidentally) and the team was so kind/gracious and still sat us. We did the £60 3 course lunch menu and added on some snacks which is so affordable considering how full we left. They accommodated my gluten free brother with ease (baked gluten free bread in house) and even changed the dessert around for me. Massive wine list, vibes 10/10, just a great experience overall. Second time here and would come back again.

We enjoyed the tasting menu with paired drinks. The food was delicious 5/5. Loved how the first part of the meal was lots of little snacks. Very original, lovely way to start the meal. The drink pairings 4/5, the final wine was nice but didn't really compliment the dessert. I'm really nit picking but also thought it odd to be served only one red wine. The white wines were delicious, but the wine selection did feel unbalanced as a result. The service was a 2/5. After ordering the paired tasting menu, we were asked if we would want some sparkling wine, I said yes, and began to read the menu and the waitress never came back to take my order before we were served our first drink. We were handed a tea/coffee/digestive menu near the end of our meal, but again no one came to take an order and we had to flag a member of staff down. Around 10 minutes after our last drink, a server told us that we had overstayed our reservation and wanted us to move from the table. Since we had ordered the tasting menu, the staff had complete control of the timings each course was served and being rushed off our table left a sour note at the end of an otherwise pleasant dinner.

Friday 21st July. Thank you very much for the experience. My tongue and palate rejoiced. The kitchen certainly excelled. The paired soft drinks were a surprise. The service made me curious to look behind the scenes. Wishing you long lasting success.

To say that we were impressed would be an understatement. TIMBERYARD is located inconspicuously amongst other standard Edinburgh fare on Lady Lawson street, but it’s presence was thoroughly felt from the moment we walked in the door to the moment we left. The ambiance was beautifully rustic, the staff was incredibly welcoming, and the food was perfect. My partner loved the scallop dish in particular, saying it was the best scallop she had ever had in her life. We would love to come back to TIMBERYARD on our next trip to Edinburgh, and would highly recommend anyone else do the same. Thank you for a great evening.

Exceptional experience. Very comfortable environment with great music and a rich history. The food is next level, seasonal and wonderfully presented. Service is top notch, even if our waiter was a bit quiet. Wine list was excellent with some great Champagne. Every moment was luxurious, with a great atmosphere. Would happily return.

My boyfriend and I visited TIMBERYARD in August for a 30th birthday celebration. It was our first experience eating in a Michelin star restaurant and it did not disappoint. The service was impeccable; friendly, knowledgeable and not at all pretentious. We had a slight time limit as we had a Fringe show to get to. We informed them of this and they ensured we had the full tasting course experience, without feeling rushed at all. They helped us choose a fantastic bottle of wine from their extensive menu, giving us tasters of a couple after we provided our taste preferences. The food was a unique combination of flavours that worked incredibly well. Each dish had a clear theme, all locally sourced and considered. They adapted the tasting menu to our preference (I don’t eat shellfish and my boyfriend is allergic to chocolate) without any fuss. The flavours were still spot on.We were recommended TIMBERYARD from a few people, and now will share the recommendation! We hope to visit again in the future. Thanks to all the staff who made our experience so special
