Dunelm

Visited yesterday with my sister and niece who wanted cushions and bedding. They got both and I treated myself to some new cushions. Good choices and friendly staff

I visited the store in the afternoon. I wanted a piece of curtain header tape. I collected the tape and went to the cutting table. I waited a minute or so then went and found a member of staff. I spoke to Michelle who told me abruptly to wait at the table and that she would come and cut my header tape while she had finished, I don't know what she was actually doing because she was just sat at a table on her phone/device. I waited 10 minutes and then saw another member of staff and asked if they could do it, she put the stock she was holding down and cut it immediately. I had to walk past Michelle again who was then standing around with no phone when going to the till. I was 5th in the line and 1 person was on tills. The que got to about 8 before someone else arrived. A 5 minute purcase took me about 25 minutes. The service from Michelle was appalling, there should never be a 10 minute wait for something like that. There should also be adequate staff on tills.

A large store with a wide range of value items. A large stock of rugs available which we did not expect. A large free car park is adjacent to the store. There is a small cafe on site.

The shop itself is full of choice of household items for each room of the house. The common phrase we used was I can get it cheaper elsewhere. This didn't stop my daughter spending £100, with 10% off as a student. Where Dunelm let's itself down is it's cafe, the reason for two stars. The Mac & Cheese was far from it. The pasta was not Macaroni, the cheese sauce had an added spice we thought was paprika, and who puts sweetcorn and peas in it? It was also not as pictured in the displayed photo. The squirty cream on the shakes was sweet and cheap. My apple pie was to be heated up but was served off-cold. Very disappointing.

Personally i found the staff to be NOT BOTHERED in helping me when i asked for help in a purchase.

Called in for some blinds as they have a good selection and reasonable prices. Cafe is ok but some of the seats could do with being replaced.

The wheelchairs are better than ours so you don't have to mess on getting your wheelchair in the car to go shopping here

Went in to make a substantial curtains purchase. They only had one pair of curtains in stock and one pole. Took a good 5 minutes to find a member of staff available to check the stock info. The aisles are far too tightly crammed together so there’s literally no space to browse or even move when half of the over 60 population are crammed into the store on a weekday afternoon.We ordered curtains and poles online elsewhere and would not return to this store.

Great place for home and garden essentials, some great ideas for gifts for someone kitchen ware, beautiful bedding area, so much more, and a lovely cafe very clean and a lot on the menu to choose from.

Dunelm is one of my favourite shops however, today I was returning something. One fitted sheet told quite sharply “you can’t change that!” also a set of pillowcases that were not finished off again “you can’t change that” I’d opened the packages and the sheet didn’t fit I was told I should of measured the mattress! No “sorry you can’t change it,” hardly made any eye contact . I explained pillowcases we’re not finished off so yes I could change that. Go to change them and look for other sheet and asked a male and female assistant why two fitted sheets same size one fits lovely the other too small. The female just looked at me as I’m busy so don’t bother me, the male assistant explained new mattresses need time to settle and the reason is probably one’s got flattened more than the other. The female again just give a look that would turn milk sour! It’s the first time I’ve been in Dunelm and felt that I shouldn’t have bothered the assistants, apart from the male assistant the others if they smiled their faces would of cracked! I always loved shopping here but I think some of the staff need to go on a customer care course before they frighten customers away. Today was not a nice experience at all.
