I attended the salon for a restyle with the talented Tonio. He is a breath of fresh air. I showed him pics of what I was after and got a haircut that was perfect for me. The mark of a decent stylist is one that doesn't just copy a photo but instead creates a look that takes into account the difference between yours and the model's hair.

I'm not one for having my hair cut! I have very curly hair which I have always shaved short. However, on a request to keep it long, I went to Stephen's for a trim. Top service! I got a light trim as requested and the service was great.I have to say that other 'barbers' on Moulsham Street were unable to offer a hair cut...Thanks Stephen and the team and I'll be back again when the mop needs attention.

Stylist was lovely and I genuinely liked her. However after explaining how I wanted my highlights & lowlights done on two occasions one the week before with photos of me how I like my hair and again on the day of my so explaining how I like and don’t like my hair. I sadly I ended up with my hair as I said I didn’t want. Thick blocky highlights that didn’t look natural plus they should have been golden highlight but were ash grey they made me look at least 5/ 10 years older and grey all over. ( I only have a very small amount of grey which I had asked her to darken these areas but they were made lighter and a larger area.)I told her I hated my hair and wanted it changed. She offered an all over colour this made me really worried or to add more low lights to ash areas. I agreed to the latter, She only did the sides on top not all over I asked her to do the front and back as didn’t want odd hair. This was done but only top layers. I also asked for the minimum cut off my length 1/2cm she cut 2 cms. I felt physically sick and stressed about everything.She did say she was happy to redo as I wanted but there was no more conversation or offer of drink while I had to wait a second time to have this done. There was a massive atmosphere between us and within the salon. I was then told by her someone else would finish she never came near me again.The young girl who removed the second lowlights just pulled them out it was really painful I had to ask her to please take out and not pull No conversation at all or a response to my polite request. She then went on to spray water all in my face and down my chest and clothes. I had to ask for towel to dry myself which she pulled back off of me. I was made to feel like I was the bad one for getting my hair done wrong. The owner then dried my hair I had a conversation with him how I liked my hair dried and straightened he said he would do but ended up just drying, He could see how upset I was I told him I wish I had never come there as felt I was being bullied for saying My hair was done wrong. He tried to excuse the two staff who had been so cold to me as saying they were still training I had never been told this I thought I was paying for a fully qualified staff at £100 this also included a discount for being a new client !!! He was friendly and tried to get my confidence back. I did tell him it was the worst experience I had ever had at a hairdressers I normally go every 6 weeks. I was only looking for a new stylist as my hairdresser is on maternity leave. I didn’t get a discount for all the stress, upset extra time out of my day. plus my hair was cut to the wrong length I still had to pay the full price and was asked if I wanted to make an appointment for next time !! I would never go back I have never felt so unwelcome and uncomfortable having my hair done. I’m sure hairdressers don’t always get it right so please be more understanding to the client when mistakes happen I feel I was very understanding of the stylist and I feel my feelings were never considered.Even in this review i’m not naming the stylist as she’s still learning, she’s a lovely young lady and has a good future ahead my advice maybe listen a bit more about the clients wants and dislikes but please don’t let this put you off.I had more of an issue with the young person who washed my hair the second time 100% unfriendly and in my eyes a bully.Also the owner should have stepped in and supported the stylist when I said I hated my hair it wasn’t how I had wanted it. He was right next to us at this time!!!!!! He claimed he didn’t know yet he finished my hair !!!!

My sister come in for a drastic hair change for prom and OMG it looks amazing!!! Exactly like the pictures she asked for. Lily and Phoebe did such a good job and staff were very welcoming. Great atmosphere. 10/10 recommend <3

This salon is absolutely worth the visit if you are wanting a new hairdresser!The service was speedy and efficient but they take great care in finding exactly what you want and ensuring you have a comfortable and worthwhile appointment❤️My stylist Chloe was lovely to talk to and definitely knows her stuff when it comes to the salon❤️

I have been going to Stephen Alexander for over 15years. I always feel welcomed by everyone that works there, everyone friendly and upbeat. Steph is conscientious, passionate and professional with a high level of knowledge not only offering a great service every time but also advise on keep my hair healthy. He offers a personable service and listens to what I want which always results in a fabulous style that suits me and is practical. I have been going to Lily to get my hair coloured for the last 8months since I got in engaged, to get my hair 'wedding ready'. Lily has a high level of expertise and has transformed my hair colour, she has enhanced the colour alas keeping it healthy and natural looking. I would definitely recommend them.

I cannot recommend this salon enough; I have been seeing Lily for 5 years now and despite moving over an hour away, I will still continue to drive specifically to see her as she just does an amazing job every single time. I must drive her mad as I ask for something new every single time, but Lily is confident and competent with exploring lots of different and new exciting colours and always delivers. All of the stylists are friendly, welcoming, and generally going to the salon is a pleasure. Thank you all!

I'm not one for going into a salon usually but I'm so glad I went to this lovely place. I had a wet trim with Chole, such a lovely young lady who listened to what I wanted and did a wonderful job. The salon is a busy, super friendly place and I highly recommend it. Will definitely be visiting again.

I've been using this salon for years, including Stephen's previous salon & have always been happy with the results I get for colouring, highlights & styling.The staff are always very friendly & courteous to their clients & pricing is in line with nearby salons.I would definitely recommend this salon!
