Pane e Vino
Wonderful food and really friendly service. We popped in without booking quite early on a Saturday eve - maybe 5.30. No issues getting a table. Pizzas and pasta lovely. Great service and not pricey. We'll be back.

Despite booking online, we arrived at Pane e Vino to find it closed - and seems to have been closed for some weeks or months. A notice in the window said it would be opening or re-opening soon. Best to check with the restaurant directly if you were thinking of eating there, although their phone number was not recognised" when we tried. Don't trust online booking

You have to eat here! Astonishing restaurant! The host (manager) is one of the best I’ve ‘worked’ with…so friendly, knowledgeable, great fun and a real Italian character. Such a top bloke. Anyway, the food is beyond divine…easily the tastiest in Preston and beyond. Not one aspect of our meal was anything less than perfect. I won’t give particulars, much more fun to arrive without any inside intel, but all I will say…go with empty stomachs and fill your boots! A fabulous place and I have no doubt booking will get very tricky. A hidden gem as it stands. Cannot wait to go back…dreaming of the prawns as I type. 10/10 without question

This place is a real hidden gem in Preston. They specialise in Sicilian cuisine. The staff were very friendly, accommodating and made sure we were happy with our meal. For starters we had this aubergine and cocoa dish. It was certainly different! A cold starter with marinated aubergines in a vinegar sauce with pickled onions, capers and olives. It was very delicious and a good portion too! For mains I had the cacio e Pepe, one of my favourites! And it didn't disappoint! Very tasty and cheesy just the way I like it. My only criticism is that it could have been served on a plate/bowl rather than a slate as it was hard to eat off of. We also ordered the very traditional alla norma, however we were quite disappointed with this dish. It was a small portion with a basic tomato sauce, and a few dots of aubergine purée. I've had far better alla norma than this, where I had a rich aubergine tomato sauce with actual pieces of aubergine. We also found the pasta very al dente, almost raw. We respect that Italians and Sicilians prefer the pasta this way but we like ours to be fully cooked so we don't end up with an upset stomach! They did offer to cook it further. For dessert we got an almond semi freddo with a chocolate sauce. This was absolutely divine! Overall I would come here again to try the other dishes, it does seem very authentic and my pasta dish was excellent despite the alla norma disappointment. But next time I will make sure to ask for my pasta to be fully cooked! It's quite a small place so if you want to try some Sicilian food, make sure to book in advance.

A true taste of Italy. My family and I really enjoyed our meal here on a Friday evening. Slightly different to your usual 'british italian' menu and I'd really recommend trying something seasonal off the special menu; the pasta with pumpkin was great.

Superb Italian food at a very reasonable price in Penwortham, especially with the 2 or 3 course deal. The service is always extremely friendly.

A real taste of Sicily. Our favourite Italian restaurant in the UK. Hidden gem in Penwortham, tell your friends. Thanks Alessandro and Roberto!

Pane e Vino
Lovely setting. They very kindly accommodated us with a small, well behaved dog (at the back of the restaurant by the rear door, so as not to disturb anyone). We were treated to a small but lovely aperitif whilst we chose our order. The menu is quite small - although supported by a number of pizzas - but very lovely. And some quite interesting choices not seen in many more Anglecised Italian restaurants. The food was delicious, if not the cheapest in town, and the wine very lovely also. Recommended.

Pane e Vino
What a great little restaurant this is. I was wary of going as I am no longer good with wheat, so pasta and pizza are a bit of a non starter these days. How I would have loved some tomato garlic bread to eat before the main course but I knew I had to give it a miss! The menu bore little resemblance to the fodder in most Italian restaurants and it was so much better because of that.We were a party of 4 and the welcome from Alex was warm and friendly. As the evening progressed, he was both charming and entertaining.I opted for the Beef tagliata with rocket salad, slow cooked confit cherry tomatoes and salted ricotta shavings. I had never tasted anything like it before – but I will be back for more of the same. 2 of our party had the sea bass with courgettes and the 4th had the beef and pork meatballs. For dessert, Alex brought 2 items and 4 plates, then sliced the desserts for us to share . One was pistachio ice cream with biscuit crumbs, the other escapes me but both were excellent. A nice bottle Rose wine went down a treat. The food was exceptional, as was Alex and on a very cold night in January the restaurant was as warm as the welcome.2 of us will be back – the other 2 live in Dorset!
