Must visit if in the area.Taken a few friends here and even with a baby, the centre provides a life jacket for kids. Easy to operate electric boats. Lovely ride on the canal. Calming and pleasant. They close in the winter, but do visit this place in the other seasons. My new favorite place as a resident of broxbourne.

Always love this place. Unfortunately we went boating on the day we had the huge downpour and were half way up the other end and got absolutely soaked getting back to base but the friendly staff looked after us and gave us towels to dry off. Never had a bad experience. Can get very busy on sunny days and most busy at weekends

Lovely way to relax on a sunny day, messing around in boats. It’s definitely worth the 90 minutes to explore the lock up stream and the weir downstream. Great for a family, lots of wildlife and a gentle pace - boats were well maintained and safety seemed paramount (including the COVID precautions). Will certainly be back.

Such a great day out. We hired a day boat (Mr Toad - 8 person) with some friends and 2 doggies. :) - 2 pets allowed - one included in the price and the extra is an extra £5.The very friendly staff are very thorough with their safety and boat handling instructions and they send you videos before your day as well so you can be more prepared if you don't have boating experience.I believe you can hire a skipper to join you for the day if you are very uncertain of boat handling and if you'd prefer it, but as I said, they give you lots of instruction and guidance. The day is from 9:15 am to be back and debarked by 6pm... It's a lovely long day and you can bring your drinks and snacks on board for the day, as well as mooring a long the river at some of the pubs as you you if you fancy stopping for breakfast or lunch etc. You can bring a bit of booze, they just ask it's not excessive amounts and that you have a few named.over 21 year olds on board who are classed as responsible people" and remain sober. It's a slow and relaxed ride and I will say the times goes alot quicker than you think so be prepared so you don't end up turning back too late as you have to factor in lock time... The staff go though all that with you...I'm not an experienced boater

I have been to the boat centre twice. My son is 5 and has additional needs. The staff at reception and at the centre are really helpful, polite and professional. On first occasion my son refused to put the life jacket on and after 20 minutes of trying he will not have it any other way. The lady at the reception said that we don't have to pay anything but on my persistent insistence agreed to take half of the agreed hire time.On second occasion yesterday 23/07 my son again refused to put the life jacket on. The lady at the reception very kindly advised to try the jacket on, before paying anything, and said that Jennie is really brilliant at that. Jennie spent 15 mins sitting with my son trying to engage him and convince him to put the life jacket on. He took particular interest in the tattoos on her hand. It was really heart touching to see that and to see my son engage with the lady. Thankyou so much for showing the kindness and compassion. It is such a beautiful setting and so worth visiting the place. There are cows if you walk down the stream as well as free parking opposite the boat centre.
