I have been to this school for a number of years now and I really struggle to find any truly kind, compassionate, caring, and genuinely good teachers here at rgshw. I know that almost everybody hates going to this school and I have felt barely any support from anybody. The school is just a place for naturally talented, masculine boys to get lots of awards for rugby, or hockey. Practically every teacher tells us to “man up” if we ever show traits they do not ‘approve of’ (of their own terms) (e.g. not looking at the teacher when they are talking, every boy that goes to the rgs knows exactly which teacher I am referring to).To continue the “concern reporting” page is absolutely useless; on countless occasions me and other people I know have submitted a true, serious concern (homophobia, bullies etc.) and have received no response at all and no effort to change these issues. When I first came to look around the school in year 6 (when I was deciding which secondary school to go to) come year 10s came up to me and said don’t go to this school and I really wish I had listened to them and gone somewhere else. I do not recommend this school at all.I can 100% guarantee you feel this “sense of community” at the rgs, if you are a fit, sporty, straight A, masculine, popular, confident, student. Not exactly like that? Then this “rgs community” will just be the bullies, cheered on by the teachers. Any individuality or diversity is brushed under the carpet by staff and teachers and mocked by other students.

While an okay school in its own right, RGS pales in comparison to the other grammar schools in the area. John Hampden is a particular favourite in the being better than RGS" respect

I attended for 6 years and in this time there were only a handful of teachers who truly seemed to care about the students. This school is great if you're hard working and normal. For anyone with even a shred of individuality, don't expect to have any encouragement or support.Mental health issues are rampant, and the lack of sensitivity and tact demonstrated by staff in how to deal with issues in this area is staggering. There really needs to be more training for staff, teaching them how to identify boys that are struggling. The fact that an ex student went to fight for ISIS should be encouragement enough for the school to invest in training of this sort. The school premises are reasonably well kept, considering the sheer number of teenage boys in attendance. The equipment and facilities are reasonably up to date for a school and offer a decent learning experience. This school used to be great, but has really deteriorated over the last decade. If you want your child to do well academically above all else, send them here. If you want them to be happy, send them elsewhere.

Our son Srichic is not happy with how this shcool teaches. Srichic says that he fell over on the teacher's arse and the teacher started grinding on him. I am not pleased with this behavior being condomed in this shcool. Our son isn't receiving the education that he deserves, and needs to be fed more information, pineapple and carrots (as they are good for the eyes), and this shcool is unable to provide this.

Very first visit to Royal Grammar school was bad experience by one of school staff who comes in white KIA SUV (Black T-shirt and black goggles)was very rude male person. If he does not know how to talk to woman then how is he dealing with other school kids that is the big question (???) He needs to learn manner and keep his tone normal and he definitely needs to learn how to talk to woman for sure.

There are some decent teachers in certain departments but the impression that most teachers give is that they really couldn't care less. It's really just laziness in my opinion. Another thing is that the school doesn't give students little to no resources to develop them into a person with the right qualities to succeed. The activities are generally poorly run. Moreover, the school while may be academically successful, the people really shame the name Royal Grammar School. You would be thinking you would were talking to a bunch of uneducated boys rather than Grammar School boys. Just lots of foul language and racist jokes being thrown around all the time. Finally, the school policy just doesn't support the weaker students in weaker areas. Rather than providing extra support lessons or smaller classes for example, the school just tells them to drop the subject as a solution. Really isn't helping the student to be honest. In conclusion, I'm just really not proud at all that I went to this institution and wish I had more foresight as to choose somewhere else to study.*Update*After spending more time here, I have decided to provide more information to prospective applicants about the problems with the RGS1) RacismRacism continues to be a problem within the school. Due to the ethnic mix within the school, it's quite common to see people sticking with their own ethnicity. While this may not be a problem, the low quality of students in the school promotes a racial divide, where hatred is expressed towards each other. Some teachers are also involved in this, such as one where the teacher told a student to 'Go back to your Pakistani School'. The teacher is still employed.2) Drug UsageA lot of people that I know consume hard-core drugs, such as cocaine outside of school and sometimes, even smoke weed in school. While the school may seem to have a strong policy towards this, it was clearly not the case. Over the past few months, multiple students who were caught smoking weed in school continue to attend and sometimes, provide this substance to others. The weakness of the school is thus highlighted in terms of dealing with youth problems.3) Lack of supportUnless you're a rugby player, then you won't have any support.Overall, if you want your son to become a druggie and have poor character and academics, then send your son to the RGS. Otherwise, please choose somewhere else.

Yh...................as a student who has been there since the start, and in my final years here, I just would't recommend. For every one good teacher, there's at least 10 bad ones. You're better off somewhere else. Save yourselves the hassle. Good academic wise, but horrible environment.
