swim! Batley

Would definitely (and have) recommend to others. Heated pool, fantastic changing facilities for babies and little ones & a space comfortable for family members to watch the swim sessions.My little ones confidence in the water grows week on week thanks to Jo and the imaginative play sessions. She will jump in with no fear & has now began to climb out. Slightly marked down as hard to get hold of on reception (only replies via fb and this can take multiple working days), additional instructors have not been as good as Jo when covering (sorry!) & shower timer needs amending. (My little girl turns into an eel when wet so the juggle and press every 2 seconds isn’t ideal). Thank you :).

We’ve just completed our first half term of swim baby with Jo. Jo is amazing with the babies and swim buddies. My little girl has come on so much in just a few weeks.Swim Batley is great for babies with every changing room having either a baby change or toddler seat in, a pram park, plenty of carparking and play area in the viewing/waiting area.

We have used Swim since our 19 month old was 10 weeks, first in Wakefield and now the purpose built Centre in Batley.Our instructor Jo is fantastic engaging with parents and children alike. If your child is having a bad day no issues - she encourages and ensure the children learn and are having fun.Each week there are different themes from space to pirates or Having A Party which help keep each week fresh and different to the last.If you want you child to get a love of water and learn to be safe in water and learn to swim this is the place to go. A Progressive teaching program with engaging specialist teachers.

Overall its great and the kids love it. Issue is there's a high staff turnover when it comes to the swim teachers. My son had progressed really far, down to one armband and then a new teacher starts and it's back to the noodle again and back to square one with the basics. There doesn't seem to be any communication during the handovers. Money does seem to pour down the drain when you see you child progress and then a new teacher starts and back we go. It wouldn't be so bad if we werent getting charged for another wasted month.

My daughter has really come on over the last 10 months she has been coming to swim. We are so grateful for the help and support that we have had from Eric at the start and now Jo my daughter makes me so proud at each lesson I can’t believe the difference from her been scared of water to now jumping in with no support. Climbing in and out of the pool on her own and even been able to float like a starfish which seems to be one of her favourite things along side using her noodle as a motorbike the list is end less. Absolutely fantastic experience, taking my baby for swimming lessons. On my own I am a confident swimmer, but as a disabled person my balance was a concern for me with my baby as well... I needn't have worried as the staff here are exceptional and have worked really closely to support me in gaining the confidence to support my baby in the pool as independently as possible. Jo the swimming instructor is superb.

We have been taking our baby since he was 3 weeks old. It really helped him develop his core and neck strength early on and has made him extremely comfortable in the water already.He is now progressing to being a much more active participant at 6 months and visibly improving each week (when he was very young it was much more a bonding experience and getting used to the water).The instructor Jo is very good and gets us doing a lot of different games which keep the babies (and parents) entertained while practicing the key skills they will need when progressing to the next stage. The facilities are excellent (apart from the showers switching off after a few seconds if you don't hold the button down which is a nuisance especially when holding a baby), the pool is an ideal size and depth and the viewing area is great for other parents and family.Previous issues mentioned in other reviews seem to have improved - we have had a stable instructor for several months, communication has only let things down once where we weren't told the instructor was off, another centre opening locally in Castleford gives extra capacity, and the instructor has us doing a lot of different skills (there are limits to how many things can be done in the baby class so there is quite a lot of repetition but they vary things as much as possible and babies need repetition to learn so I'm not sure what people who have complained about this expect from under 1s). I particularly enjoy galloping around the pool astride a pool noodle pretending to be a knight.....I also have a friend with older children who goes and is very happy with their classes, which is reassuring for when we go up.

Very good members-only Swimming Centre, there is plenty of free parking onside and good facilities inside such as lockers(you will need to bring your own padlock), a pram storage unit, soft mats inside the changing room, private changing units, showers, hairdryers and toilets. The staff are friendly and helpful and the new centre is kept clean and tidy. The Swimming Teachers are amazing and really do engage with everyone. My Baby really enjoys the fun classes and gets excited when she sees the pool. The pool room and water is heated and you can also bring along a plus one to sit and watch through the next room.

My child started at Swim and all was great until they were moved up a stage. Now, we can't get a booking for the stage they at. I feel they need to manage new customers and the progress of their students to ensure they have a place when moved up and not just left hanging like my child. Also, they do not answer the phone to ask about classes, places or anything. I thought we had found a great place for my child to learn but its just been a waste of money and time so for and my child left upset. Would not recommend starting unless you can guarantee their place in the next stage of learning. However, my child did love it, such a shame
