Nomad Sailing

I did a Competent Crew course with Nomad and would wholeheartedly recommend this to anybody. The teaching was excellent, the ship was great, and I enjoyed the experience very much.

Great course, fantastic experience. James is a great instructor, he will work with your strengths and your challenges. We visited some really nice places on the Solent and I feel a lot more confident handling a yacht. All in all super!

Completed the 5 day 'Day Skipper course', covering 150 miles from Gosport to Isle of Wight , Poole and back, with great side trips to Yarmouth, the Hamble, Lymington, Newtowne as part of the travel. 5 hours of very interesting night sailing and thoroughly enjoyable time. Cant recommend the team at Nomad enough. Great company, great experience and tuition.

I did my Competent Crew training with Nomad in Aug alongside some people completing their Day Skipper practical. I went with almost no sailing experience except for a week in Turkey over five years ago. The tutoring was wonderful, I learned a huge amount and left wanting to learn more. As a solo traveller I felt safe and happy the entire time. A wonderful athmosphere for learning and having a great time!

Went on the Competent Crew course and sailed on Menai 3. Nomad had foul weather gear available to loan which was great as it was pretty chilly, the boat was great to learn on and the instructor was excellent. Had a great time and everyone on the course had a lot of opportunities to learn and try out various skills. The instructor was very patient and each day was very flexible. Overnight berth facilities were all to a high quality as well and no lack of hot water. Will be back for more training later in the year.

Great school to learn to sail with. They are my go-to when sailing in the Solent. Organisation is excellent, they cater for all sailors needs and the instructors are always very knowledgeable and flexible in their approach.

Boat handling drills - it was all very good and we achieved more than I expected. Normally I don't spend time doing man over board drills (neither do the crew) but this was accomplished under engine and sail. Other drills were: stern to mooring (for the med) mooring onto a buoy, etc. It was all created in a learning atmosphere that was patient, relaxed and stress free and definitely no shouting. And in only two days. All adding to experience and confidence. Thanks Alex. The boat was in extremely good condition. The only boat I've been on recently, that doesn't have a squeaky head flush and was squeaky clean. If the dates fit then it will be my first choice.
