Great School. Motivated owners, excellent teachers, lovely pupils (and parents), great results. You will find no where better locally. Ignore the totally fake 1 Star Reviews. Go and look around the school yourself, you will not be disappointed and your children will thank you. Outstanding.

With farrowdale I found it to be very much if your face fits. I had swimming and safeguarding issues such as children getting changed unattended with members of the public. I raised this concern many times! To be fair to farrowdale after 4 years this did change. In my opinion the sanctions for bullying are not strict enough for fear of upsetting the bullies parents (although this is dependant on who the bully is ie friend of a teacher or child of a teacher etc) My son suffered terribly whilst at this school. When I raised this issue I was told it was untrue. I was told if anything was happening the other children would inform the staff. When the other children did inform staff I was told the other children were being unfair to the alleged bully. I would not recommend farrowdale.

Farrowdale House Preparatory School
My first child joined Farrowdale House in Pre School nine years ago and my daughter is there now. There were many schools we could have chosen in the local area to educate our children and we chose Farrowdale. The reason for this was our first impression of Farrowdale all those years ago was one of a family, friendly atmosphere where all children were treated as individuals and encouraged to be themselves. The very first day we left our son for a couple of hours having never been left with anyone, we dreaded leaving him, two hours later we went back and he was refusing to leave. At this stage, we didnt realise that my son was extremely bright for his age, Farrowdale picked up on this immediately and his curriculum was adjusted to help him stretch himself and ensure he reached his full potential.Over the years our son was diagnosed with Autism and we received so much support from Farrowdale, who really took the time to understand him as a person and adjust his school environment to ensure he was happy and developing socially. He grew so much in confidence and this was testament to the caring and nurturing environment that this school has been built on. Our daughter joined Farrowdale in pre school as a very shy little girl who was scared of her own shadow who never left our side. She has grown so much in confidence and her education has been everything you would want it to be. In advance of my son leaving the school for high school, they supported my request for an EHCP assesment and we began together a long road to secure him some extra support for a transition to high school. With their help we were able to secure him an EHC plan for his transfer to high school which has been hugely beneficial for him in his first two years and continues to help support him. My daughter is growing from a shy child into someone who can now stand on a stage at the age of 7 and sing to a room full of parents- this is testament to the confidence that the school instill in the children. Her reading and maths is nothing short of excellent and I am sure she will do extremely well with her upcoming SATS. In short, if you are looking for a school with a high standard of education, a nurturing environment where your child can reach their potential, with teachers and owners that genuinely care then have no hesitation in picking Farrowdale. If you have any concerns- don't, if you have any questions, stop any of the parents at drop off / pick up and ask them for yourself-we are a friendly bunch!

Before joining Farrowdale, our son spent a year at a different prep school and was extremely unhappy there. We sent him to Farrowdale House and the difference was unbelievable! He settled in straight away and absolutely loved it.We have two children now at Farrowdale. My eldest has been there for seven years. We have never had any concerns and I know if we ever did, they would be dealt with straight away. Our children are happy at Farrowdale and feel lucky to attend such a wonderful and supportive school. They are both excelling in every way. Our daughter was quite shy and Farrowdale has really made her more confident. To listen to the children speaking fluently and articulately in front of lots of people just shows how this school produces confident, well rounded children. All the children at Farrowdale are beyond kind, caring, well-mannered individuals and above all very happy. What a fantastic start Farrowdale gives to their pupils. If you are looking for a school that meets all your child’s needs both nurturing and academically, then Farrowdale House is for you.The extent that the headteacher and all the staff genuinely care about the children and all aspects of the school is immense. This is the feeling you get everyday walking into the school.

Farrowdale House Independent Preparatory School is a small friendly school with a strong focus on the three “r’s” and getting pupils into Grammar Schools at 11+. My son has greatly enjoyed his time there and now misses the family atmosphere of the school with its small class sizes now he’s left. It is a place where all the children know and look after each other whichever year they are in.The staff are hugely supportive and dedicated in their work with the pupils. Their help and hard work enabled my son to pass all his exams for local Grammar Schools. Similar exam successes were achieved by his cohort. The School is outstanding in the education and support it gives its pupils.Don’t take my word for it, go and have a look yourself. The children’s behaviour, manners and work speak for themselves.

My son struggled developing social skills and gaining confidence as there were so few children to mix with. This did not prepare him well for moving up to a large senior school. Bullying went without adequate sanctions for fear of upsetting parents & losing the child and fees. As there was no SENCO or assessments carried out at Farrowdale House school, it was quickly established by my son's secondary state school that he has a developmental issue affecting his ability to learn in the same way as others. This, despite my raising my concerns at each year and with each teacher of his time at Farrowdale. In addition to paying over £30,000 in school fees here I was also forced into employing a private tutor to assist with his learning basic handwriting!! Should kindness and performing in plays be your thing then this is the school for you. Shame really as pre school/nursery had the makings of giving kids a great start, in my opinion it went downhill after that.

Farrowdale House Preparatory school is an excellent school with a brilliant learning environment. Kaizen-Do Karate is lucky to teach our LIFESKILL & Character Development programme at the school to many of its students. The students are always well behaved and show Respect and Discipline in all the sessions. The staff are nice and approachable. What really stands out though is that as soon as you walk through the doors you can feel a nice 'family' environment. For any parents considering to enrol their children into the school I genuinely believe they will not be disappointed.

This was the best choice we could have made for our daughters. What we love most is the dedication that the teachers have to each and every child. Such a family feel to the school where our daughters have built confidence, respect and amazing results within their learning. Our children love it here.

I would highly recommend Farrowdale House school. I've seen my son progress at an amazing rate not only academically but also socially. I would probably describe the school as a big happy family, all the children really look out for one another, they have lovely manners, dress smartly and show fantastic support for each other. This is down to the hard work the teachers put in and the way the school is ran.
