It’s wonderful to see living history tucked away in London. Bear in mind the original Roman wall is at the bottom corner there, not the rest of it. That was added later. Still, it’s nice to take in the history before grabbing a train from the nearest Underground station.

It's really nice to see such an ancient and important wall still standing. It looks as if the modern city grew without consideration of the wall, sometimes cutting through it, sometimes building up to it just because it was still there.

I’ve seen other reviewers talk about being a history nerd and I completely agree. This wall would easily pass the eye of someone that’s not necessarily interested in in what happened way back then. But if you’re someone that’s fascinated about how cultures evolve, how the world was then and how it’s similar / different from the world now, this wall provides a tangible piece of that. There are a few poster boards that detail out some of the history behind the wall and the purpose it served during its time so definitely recommend giving those a quick read and even following up with some light Google searches if you’re interested in knowing more. Even better, this wall is just opposite the tower of London and gives the best vantage point to take some good pictures of it. The Tower Hill Memorial is also 2 stone throws away from here so you can immerse yourself in a historical walk through (almost like an outdoor museum) in this area of town.

What a fantastic part of London and completely unknown to me, not read it in any guides. Amazing! An important part of British heritage these features need to be protected and preserved . So our past will be always known. It’s great that the council has looked after this wall, so easy for it to disappear.

Even though it will not take a long time to visit this particular part of the London wall, the whole idea of the wall is massive. It was built by the romand around 200 AD and it has a length of 2.8km. It is the best preserved remnant of what it was many, many hundred years ago, the eastern defence of the Roman Londinium. The site is located right at the exit of the Tower Hill underground station and just across the street from the Tower of London.Trajan's statue reminds visitors of a glorious era many decades ago.The whole London Wall walk is around 3h long, and this part of the London walk is the 2nd point.I believe it's important for everyone to acknowledge the existence of it and try to jug one's imagination about how it used to be around here before modern civilisation.

You can see the remains of the original Roman Walls dotted around the City. The section near Tower Hill Station, the part that's behind St Leonard's hotel (walkable from Tower Hill), just walk through the alley, the basement of 12 Jewry Street and St Alphage Garden. All easily walkable and accessible.

If you’re a history person it’s a nice place to visit you can sit down on one of the benches and just admire the view. If you’re a Roman history person it’s a must.
