Iraq and Afghanistan Memorial

The Iraq and Afghanistan Memorial that commemorates British citizens, including military personnel and civilians, who participated in the Gulf War, the Afghanistan War and the Iraq War.The statue itself is located in Victoria Embankment Gardens, just outside the Ministry of Defence amongst other war memorial, and military leaders. It consists of two large monoliths, one to represent Iraq and the other Afghanistan. The two stones are separated by a narrow gap and support between them a thick bronze relief sculptures. On the front, facing the River Thames are three soldiers in a knelling position. On the rear, facing the Ministry building show civilians and their contributions.

The Memorial features two large stones – one representing Iraq and the other Afghanistan – linked by a giant, two-sided bronze tondo depicting the Memorial’s theme of “Duty and Service”. The Memorial gives equal prominence to military and civilian contributions, including, amongst others, the delivery of healthcare and humanitarian work. It is specifically intended to be inclusive of all those who contributed and therefore bears no names.

I love this memorial the design is amazing and I love how it looks like it has a big coin built into it.

I enjoyed the view of this memorial.It is sad because I support peace. Not war.This 5 star is for the people who died in the war.
