The Birmingham Hernia Clinic
I had been diagnosed with an inguinal hernia by my GP and was in a lot of discomfort. Being 77 years old I wasn't prepared to put up with this discomfort until the NHS were able to operate. ( I still haven't heard from the NHS for my initial consultation with them).I did some research on going private and contacted Simon Radley for a consultation. 11 days later I had the operation.Everthing was explained clearly before the op and on the day of the op everything went smoothly. After the first week I had no discomfort or pain and was back to carrying on with my normal life within the month.Thank you Simon and your team.

I've been rather unfortunate with hernias - groin both sides and more recently an umbilical hernia that was starting to need attention. But very fortunately, Simon Radley at the Birmingham Hernia Clinic has operated on me and sorted everything out. Mr Radley is personable, considerate and obviously highly experienced and competent. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.

The Birmingham Hernia Clinic
I had been diagnosed with a bi-lateral inguinal hernia on October 2022 by my GP, Getting treatment on the NHS proved to be difficult because the waiting list to be seen by a consultant was very long (estimations given were 18-24 months) by April 2023 I made the decision to look into private treatment as the the physical issue was preventing me from working at my job properly. After searching private care for hernia treatment I found the Birmingham hernia clinic website, there are many excellent reviews, so I made contact and was seen by a consultant (Dr Radley) within two weeks. The staff at the consultation clinic were excellent, they were thorough and took time to listen and talk to me about how I was feeling and if I had any questions. My operation was booked after seeing Dr Radley who was also very thorough, and he informed me of the different options I could go for, and also his recommendation to what I should do. He is very friendly, very knowledgeable and his general way of talking to me put me at ease about the whole thing. On the day of my operation, I came to the hospital and from the moment I walked in I was welcomed warmly by all the staff right from reception all the way up to the ward staff. I was well informed about the timeline and what and when things were happening, I was shown to my room and shown around by the nurse in charge of me. The facilities at this hospital are amazing, the room, the corridors the waiting rooms, all spotlessly clean with modern decor. It's more like a hotel than a hospital. I felt very at ease here, it's quiet and the care given by the ward staff is just as amazing, consistency was something I noticed. Regular checks on me, and everyone was always happy to talk to you. Even the catering staff were really friendly and caring. Side note - The food is amazing!!When it came to go down for my operation I was escorted by a very nice chap who has worked there a long time. I don't remember his name but he was very chatty and he seemed very passionate about what he does for a living which is great as he settled any nerves I was having! He and the theatre staff all spoke to me to let me know what they were doing and took me through their procedures step by step.. It wasn't long after that before I woke up from my operation, and i'm happy to say that I didn't wake up alone in a strange room, there was a nurse there who was with me while I was waking up, she checked on my well being and made sure I was comfortable, I was looked in on almost every hour to make sure I was ok. I can't fault the care here, It's brilliant. I felt a bit unwell in the early hours and called someone via the call button on my bed and a nurse attended within a minute and while I was explaining what was up she was taking my blood pressure, Oxygen intake, etc. she also went and fetched the senior nurse to check on me and they both were reassuring when explaining why I was feeling ill, it was due to the anaesthetic wearing off, I got out of bed to use the toilet and while I was in there the nurse had changed my bedding and added an extra sheet because I had been sweating a lot... Talk about going the extra mile!!The next day Dr Radley came to see me to check how I was feeling after my operation and after a chat he was happy for me to go home, once my lift had arrived to collect me, my discharge papers were already done and there was no waiting around for anything to be signed. The following day someone from the hospital actually called me and this was to check that I was recovering ok and if I had any questions. Brilliant after care.Within 6 weeks of my operation I am a new man! I feel fixed, there is no more abdominal pain and also no post op discomfort. I'm really happy with the result, and I am so glad that I decided to have treatment at this hospital. I have since decided to take out private health care insurance based off my experience at the Birmingham hernia clinic!Thank you Dr Radley! And to all the staff at the Birmingham hernia clinic thank you as well!

I couldn’t recommend dr radley more. My father had a stroke around 10 years ago, so when he had developed an inguinal hernia we were very concerned about the risk of any surgery. Dr radley and the team assured us with great detail around the procedure. Rather than waiting 2+ years as we were advised with the NHS we managed to get this sorted in the space of a week and a half. 1 day in and out with no complications. Dr radley and the team were extremely respectful, knowledgeable and professional.

I had a large incisional hernia, that was repaired by Mr Radley. From the first consultation to leaving the hospital the whole process was first class, giving clear and honest opinions on the operation and after care, 2 months later all is great. Would highly recommend.

Mr Simon Radley and The BMI Hospital (The Priory) were absolutely fantastic throughout the process - thank you! Mr Radley was outstanding at explaining the procedure, empathetic and realistic about the recovery time and all other details about the surgery, tailoring advice to my specific commitments post op. Simon made everything easy to understand , and was friendly, approachable and is clearly highly experienced medical professional, supported by a fantastic team behind him. Would fully recommend to anyone needing Hernia repair surgery

I attended for a daycase hernia repair recently. The hospital and staff provided excellent care that was of high standard, safe and efficient. Only criticism was a lengthy wait postoperatively for discharge medications. Particular thanks should go to my treating surgeon Mr Radley who I highly recommend for his expertise, skills and his professional manner.

From my first contact with the Birmingham Hernia Clinic everything progressed very efficiently and promptly. Simon Radley explained the options and process very clearly and he recommended that I should have open surgery for my inguinal hernia. My day surgery at The Priory Hospital followed quickly afterwards and I could not fault the care and attention Simon and the team gave me on the day. I quickly made a full recovery and now feel like I have got my active life back again. Thank you to the whole team.
