We had a fantastic lunch here - the scampi ciabatta was delicious and is making my mouth water thinking about it. Prices were reasonable, the place was great and the staff were absolutely lovely. The highlight of our trip to Northumberland

My first visit to Holy Island and I was completely enchanted! Somehow I lucked out when I booked my room with the Crown—it’s a lovely pub in an unbeatable location. My room was comfortable, the food delicious and employee Sophie was a delight! So helpful and kind! Can’t wait to return! Thanks!

We decided to stay on the island for a meal instead of leaving when the tide came in. We both had fish and chips (Haddock) , I have serious allergies to dairy and egg, their batter is free of those ingredients and is also gluten free so safe for most allergies. Reasonable price and very friendly and helpful staff. Please book in advance though as people were been turned away. Dogs are alowed in the bar only. Not the dining room

We only ate here but the food was fantastic, the restaurant and toilets all appeared very clean and service was good. We had lunch but the evening menu looked fantastic.

Christian visitors to Holy Island for the day (30.08.23), I was with my sister and her three young girls, whom I was visiting in Newcastle. It was the most beautiful day and we thought we would have a quick bite before driving back, enjoying the view. After a rude and hugely unwelcoming experience at the much grander Manor Hotel pub (who refused to serve us, and said there were no tables free when we could see one with no 'reserved' sign) we went across the road to the Crown and Anchor who, though they had run out of mains (I think because of bookings) couldn't have been nicer and more hospitable. They bent over backwards for us. It is not at all smart - more like the old fashioned sawdust floor cum public rooms in inns of yore - but I would take a great atmosphere over a gentrified interior, any day. They provided the girls with nuggets and chips, I had a great pint of a local ale (I think it was Farne Island; delicious) and we had a lovely time in the beer garden. The locals both inside and out were very welcoming and chatty to us; we responded in kind!

Stayed here for 2 nights as they have 1 of their 4 rooms that's dog friendly. The room was ok, nice and clean and a nice bathroom and shower. The view was great overlooking the priory ruins although we did feel it was a little bit too small to have stayed here for longer than a couple of nights with a dog, but it's a perfect location and easy walking distance to everything else of interest. The bar is nice despite being fairly small, very friendly staff and good service, and an extremely good selection of malt whisky (some quite rare and reflected in the price). The evening meals were very good, the burger and spicy veggie burger in particular were really good. Breakfast was really nice on the first day, not the biggest plate full but very tasty full English, cereals, toast, juice etc, and we even got a sausage for the dog. The only reason we'd give it 4 stars and not 5 is the breakfast on the second day was not as good, smaller portions for my partner (just 1 egg when she ordered egg & beans) and both breakfasts were not very hot. That said, we would stay again despite there being cheaper options on the island.

We had a brilliant stay (6 nights) at the Crown & Anchor. The staff, service and food are all first-class. The triple room was clean, comfortable and a perfect location just minutes walk from our archaeological dig. The breakfasts were delicious and every evening meal was memorable. Highly recommended for a beer, meal or overnight stay. We will definitely be back.

Great lunch menu for a mixed group. Reasonably priced, and very clear with allergen listings which was great for the our gluten free member. Childrens menu was good value and a decent portion size. Stopped by later in the day for a quick pint, lovely staff and very dog friendly inside the bar area. Looking forward to our next visit.

Did not stay at the property, was visiting the island for the day. Popped in for food.Staff were friendly and welcoming, helpful too with menu queries. We had the most delicious gluten free fish and chips.Chips were great, the fish had lovely crispy batter. So nice to be able to have proper fish and chips at the seaside. The whole menu looked very tasty with lots of gluten/ dairy free options. Really nice little pub, I highly recommend a visit, we will certainly return when we visit Lindisfarne again.
