Express General Convenience Store

Unexpected encounter today that left me feeling very uncomfortable. I returned a parcel today and the person serving me didn’t acknowledge me and when I asked a question they were very sarcastic and derogatory towards me. I felt intimidated and sad that they thought it ok to treat someone like that. I only went in to return a parcel. I don’t think I can go back there as it happens to me every time I go but today was the most uncomfortable to date.

Just reading the reviews. The owner can be a bit off, and unfriendly but has a few times been quite pleasant when I've been there in the past. Not ideal really but it is what it is. The shop is big and I think could have capacity to stock more things.

I went into this store to use Evri a couple of days ago and had a brief chat with the owner when I bought a couple of things. He was talking about his daughter. Seemed pleasant. Today I went in again to use Evri and it was out of paper. The same guy was rude and undermining when I asked about paper refill , and he clearly didn’t care when the machine would be working again. He was like the evil twin of the guy I met previously. I have been using Evri to return stuff for my teenage daughter who is being treated for cancer at Addenbrookes and we are living nearby temporarily for that reason. It’s been an awful year but apparently not as bad as people coming into your shop to use the services you choose to provide.

You can return parcels via Evri here, simple and easy to use. I have to agree the owner was quite unpleasant, from reading his replies to other reviews he seems to despise the parcel return service. If this is the case and it makes you rude to potential customers then perhaps don't offer the service...

**WORST PERSON EVER**This is by far the most rude, ignorant and unreasonable person I've ever met. I tried to return a parcel and the person behind the counter offended me multiple times through no reason. I urge everyone to use other local businesses who actually care about their customers.I will never visit here again and as you can see by other reviews this is not the first case of this.Disgusting.

I have read reviews and my assumption is this man either likes you or simply does not and there is no knowing what you will be met with from one day to the next. I have to say I have used this store for amazon returns frequently in the past, Hermes/Evri more recently. I always felt as though he was trying (and succeeding) in making me feel like a child, undermining a usual comment about the their returns system that has changed slightly over the past few years. It seems you are either met with nice or really not so nice. Today left me quite upset with the response from the owner. I get the impression that the returns system annoys him and the customers returning, even more so. I cannot fathom the issue and only use this return system via Evri when Royal Mail is not an option. I forewarned my partner about the owner months ago and he thought I was being a bit sensitive. However, sure enough his experience left him rather taken aback at the response from the owner. It is odd to meet someone quite so cutting in a small local neighbourhood store. A great pity. I think the responses to reviews says it all, accusing people of racism because they have had a poor customer experience is very telling.

I've been going to Harry's for about a year now, and I can say that I am happy with the services he provides for parcel handling and the range of products he offers in his store.Both Harry and his employees, Sean in particular, have always extended courteous treatment to me and to many others as well as I've heard them calling customers by their first names. I think interactions are two ways. Sometimes, people can leave a surprising first impression, but I've never personally encountered some of the behaviours others have mentioned. It's a convenience store that I will continue to visit.

Grumpy shopkeeper very unhelpful unwelcoming No concept in customer service. I get the impression the Returns serviceIs infuriating him I hope it's a contract he can get out of as it is harming a lovely little shop Which has one best Range of drinks and snacks around

Harry the owner is an absolute jackass and lacks basic customer service and human compassion. Only visit if you want to be supporting a vile man's business.He refused to serve me, clearly forgetting I wasn't even doing business in his shop, I was doing business Evri ... He has no choice than to do what he's contracted to do when he accepted to have Evri in his store.If I was buying gum or water then he can refuse to serve me, I'm doing business with Evri ... NOT HIM.
