Went for the dining experience in Exeter. Location and venue is lovelyUnfortunately the food was very poorFirst course a very watery tasteless soup2nd crudités with a bean curd, and duck breast, which meant the vegetarian option was just the crudités and bean curd (bean curd was tasty)3rd pork belly for the meat eaters and tofu and aubergine basically added to the soup, so again tastelessDessert, walnut cookie which was toothbreaking and some almond tasteless gloopReally disappointed as at £42 per head for food, all pre booked, I expected better. It was not enough food to fill you up, or anywhere near tasty

I’ve had two visits to Snark over the past few weeks. The first was a dining experience and the second a jazz night. In the dining experience we were two couples joining other couples making up a group of 12. Food was served as a group meal and it’s all about sociable and communal dining. It’s down to the group of diners themselves to make this a good night. The food was good and plentiful, though one of our group was a vegetarian and her options were limited. The hosts were busy but focused on food preparation and service. The boat itself is beautiful as is the location. It’s advertised as a dining experience and it certainly hits that spot. It was a great experience and I highly recommend it to open minded and social people wanting something different, memorable and interesting. When we returned for the jazz night we were joined by one other couple. A small group and surely a financial challenge for the hosts. The evening was effectively shared with the guests as well as the three piece band. The music was great especially within this small intimate venue. Again the Snark was lovely, warm, welcoming, fresh and stylish. The hosts had a little more time to chat and mingle with just a few guests. We had the house red wine and though as stated, there is limited choice it is a decent wine at a reasonable price. The food this time was Chinese with a soup, pork belly dish with broccoli and a two piece sweet. We enjoy a full spectrum of food and so have no special dietary requirements and we enjoyed both the food and the fact that it was chosen for us. If you want an extensive choice and are food phobic then group shared dinning is not for you unless you fancy challenging yourself. An evening on the Snark is as much about the company, atmosphere, food and location. It’s an experience and that combination is difficult to find.We had a really enjoyable evening again and we will return.

A rare opportunity to dine in a unique venue in a great location. Tasty, fresh, healthy home cooked food. Sociable setting. On our 2nd visit we enjoyed a live 3 piece jazz band and met like minded people on our shared table. Highly recommended

The setting is highly unusual, as is the format. If you love repeating the same bog-standard restaurant experience time after time then Snark dining is not for you. Want something different? Well, here it is.The food on the night we went was pleasant and plentiful. Good home-style grub, nothing fancy. Good quality ingredients reasonably well presented, though the hosts are very busy throughout so it’s very much ‘talk amongst yourselves’, which we did and enjoyed. There is room for improvement but maybe it’s as much down to the diners as the hosts?

I dined at Snark on 24th November. This is a great addition to the Exeter dining scene and an extremely sociable dining experience.Though a fixed menu ( if you are looking for an extensive multi choice menu this is not the place for you) the food was authentic and beautifully prepared and presented.Again wine choice is limited but what is on offer is very quaffable and paired well with the food.Seating is at a communal large galley table and sociability is the order of the day ( if you are looking for an intimate F2F dinner date this may not be the ideal choice)The price point is very reasonable ( We spent £110 for two diners)A really fun evening if you have the appetite for something a bit different.I will be back !!

Went for the dining experience.Lack of ambience. There was no service.Food wasn’t great.Shame, it’s in a good location with a lot of potential but feel they have missed the mark here.

We recently had a meal onboard the Snark to celebrate my birthday and I had a truly lovely time! So refreshing to have a totally different dining experience in such a unique setting. The food was delicious and plentiful, the service and ambience great and it was so lovely to chat with the hosts and hear about their adventures! It was also lovely to share our table with a very nice couple - a great opportunity for a totally different dining experience. We have booked to go back for Christmas Eve brunch and would thoroughly recommend a visit!
