Barratt Homes - The Strand @ Portobello

Extremely friendly, helpful and professional staff. Flats are very heat efficient. All buildings have lifts which is a huge plus. Kitchen counter space could be improved, especially in the Eildons which have a lot of empty space in the open plan living room. Unfortunately, there are design flaws that reduce the overall comfort of the flats. Bedrooms have no sound insulation, so noise from a snoring upstairs, footsteps and doors closing permeate through. Windows are double glazed, but do nothing to stop noise from outside. The kitchen hood uses an extractor fan in recirculation mode. Given the cheap manufacturer (Electrolux/Zanussi) of the hood, it means that cooking smells are not removed. You will have to open a window, which is impractical during the winter months.Edit: It's been a week since I was asked to contact them. Haven't heard back from them since. Looks like this is only a PR stunt. Downgrading my review to 2 stars now.

I bought recently a flat in Portobello runs by Ross & Liddell as factors and how you can see from the pics this is how Ross & Liddell runs the building, be aware who is the factors before you buy the flat , you can ended up to pay for service you don’t have .

Bad build quality.

Great place to own a bike if you want it to get stolen. The sheds built to Barratt design pop right open with no extra force and don't even need to be broken in the process
