I have been helping a friend to get settled after returning to the UK. The amount of care, personal attention and pure kindness and patience that has been shown to us has been nothing short of amazing. Without them, he would have been so lost and alone but the support that has been shown was abundant, to say the least.I have one thing to say though before others reading this write more negative reviews. Unless it's happened to you, a review is but that. Someone else's experience. It doesn't mean it's going to be yours. Secondly, if you're there with a sense of entitlement, and you don't receive what you hoped to, try and not write a review out of bitterness and thirdly, try and treat others how you would be treated. With appreciation and kindness. Appreciate their time and they too are people who deserve some respect when doing a very hard, often heart wrenching job. Think about how many broken people they see every day. Perspective and attitude people.

2022 Update: My wife needs to make a UC application as she will not be paid by her employer (a school) over the summer holidays. The job centre organised a midday appointment during a school day for her to attend, which she obviously couldn't and said so on her UC journal. This was ignored by the team for over 24 hours, then they said she had failed to attend. They then followed this up by rebooking the appointment again in the middle of a school day. The level of incompetence is something else, if 0 stars was an option it would still be too high a rating.2020: the centre booked me in for a phone appointment at 9:35am, I have currently been waiting for over 2 and a half hours and not received the call or even any message explaining why they have not contacted me. Disgraceful service, especially as they are in control of booking the appointments

Quite an unpleasant experience:Received a message at less than 24h notice that I should attend a meeting at the Job Centre, even though I was assigned a meeting next week. Upon arriving I was told that:- I did not have any appointment- I should have known" that the appointment was cancelled as they up-dated my "Journal" records at 10pm the night before .I was treated as if I was in the wrong and that I was not following processes that I wasn't even aware of.The reception manager did not show any intention to understand my situation. Instead he aggravated the situation by continuously saying "happy days" when receiving/making calls regarding the appointment

Unable to communicate with anyone via the journal as it takes days and days to get a response from anyone. If anything the service has gotten worse… waste of time, have to come in for a 3 min appointment and get no other support. When the job centre had to close, I got a call 2h earlier than my actual appointment. But if you ask for a phone appointment for health reasons etc, always get told they don’t do phone appts anymore - clearly only when it suits them!

Had to use them when at a very low point in my life, at the time my sessions felt like therapy sessions as I was dealing with the fallout of my life falling apart. Years later, I found myself a well paying decent job now, with amazing co workers and is at a place I can be proud of and around things I'm passionate about. However, one of my old employment officers hunted me down and joined my discord channel. I won't name him, but he wanted to meet up to catch up, I initially said yes, however as we kept talking started to feel strange about it, as I have a boyfriend and it felt a little ulterior motivatey, so I pulled out. At which point he stated he was only going to meet me once anyway, got really incel-ly and honestly very strange and quite contradictory. Suddenly he doesn't keep female friends anyway". So then what were you expecting? Note it was his suggestion to meet up anyway and he really wanted to at least voice chat with me.I dunno. Very weird experience. Definitely a part of my life I look back on and cringe."
