Argyll Tyres

Heard some outrageous accounts from older family members who used this garage in a pinch. The attitude problem, and general distaste for older females, especially strangers - is well known across Argyll.

I've used Argyll Tyres on and off over the years as they are local and handy, but customer service has been extremely hit & miss. In short, as far as I'm aware the work has always been fine, at a reasonable price, but the social skills & attitude of the 2 brothers running the show is abrupt at best and downright rude at worst. Today was the last straw. Had a tyre looked at this morning - trued etc - drove to Oban and back and on both journeys car started to judder and could smell burning rubber. Called in on way back and politely asked if he'd have a look at tyre again and my reasons. Grudgingly done, told me I was blaming his work" (I said I was doing nothing of the sort

Arrived on a Monday morning with nail in tyre ,two workers were already looking at a van and I think they couldn’t be bothered with any other customers they just looked at each other then one looked at his watch and said “ come back in the afternoon “ I told him I had just drove 30 miles to see them ,he just shrugged his shoulder.(what a Pratt).I left disgusted and found a fantastic helpful garage 10 minutes up the road,(must be a garage for locals only??)

Disgusted with their attitude towards strangers. We were in difficulty when a 6 inch nail pierced the wall of our tyre. We got the spare tyre on but discovered the valve was perished and knew it would not last. We arrived at this place explained the situation and pleaded for their help. The reaction we received shocked us, unhelpful and uncaring was the person we talked to, he told us we would have to wait half an hour, never even looked at the tyre in question, then proceeded to drive another car into the garage and start a new job. It became clear he was going to be a lot longer than half an hour so we drove off. Never in 40 years have I witnessed such an unhelpful and uncaring person.

Not a great experience as I didn’t get the impression that my custom was valued. The air of indifference did make me wonder if I should have gone somewhere else.

The two blokes that run the place have real attitude problems. I get the feeling that if you're a local they treat you ok but to strangers they are rude and ignorant. I went there a couple of times and got a poor attitude. There's a couple of other places in town, I'd go elsewhere if I were you.

Very helpful when I had to sort out results of a puncture. Replacement tyres ready and fitted next day at the stated time. Very pleased. Friendly and professional
