Chalky Downs Campsite

Beautiful site. We pitched two tents over the weekend for a group of 5 and we loved it. The pitches are fairly close, but we had no issue with sound from the neighboring parties. Access to toilets was great and while the showers were basic, it's all we needed. Hosts were great, access to Brighton was easy, and we'd love to stay again.

Overall the site has lovely views but that's about it. It's not a campsite it's a farmers field with basic facilities but charges premium campsite prices that you would normally pay with electric and more. The toilets are just cabins, 5 toilets for the whole site and 3 showers, 2 of which are wooden shacks. The only shower we used fails to work when a toilet is flushed and it loses heat. One set of toilets are unisex and not particularly clean. We arrived after having booked the site in January to be told our booking was for a tent not campervan and they only had one pitch left for a van, no pitches are allocated but still told we had the last pitch on the end, driving past many unoccupied pitches we arrived at ours, Furthest away from everything, on a slope to the point we had to use a jack to hire the van and place chocks and wood underneath. Overhearing a phone call obviously regulars or friends were arriving and pitches being held. I wonder if they booked January too! We had a 3 night stay booked but left after the second night. We are hardened campers of over 30 years. This is not a campsite and should be advertised as basic stop over site.

What a lovely find and a lovely location.We truly had a grand time even if the weather wasn’t all that great.Sharen is but a call away and all your camping needs can be met, even a breakfast delivery.Good value and good people.

Spent 2 days at Chalky Downs Camp Site with my partner and we loved it!The host Sharon, was extremely welcoming and helpful when we had any questions.The location is fantastic with some incredible views. It also a 5 minute walk(depending on walking speed) from some local shops.There is also an option for a yummy breakfast to be delivered to your tent which comes in a lovely basket (HIGHLY recommend)Our entire experience was brilliant, we are planning another visit hopefully next year and we would both highly recommend staying there.Danni and Sammy30/5/23 - 1/6/23

Beautiful location and considering our stay was marred by torrential wind and horizontal rain, we still had a lovely time. The owners were good enough to help us up the hill when the weather was too rampant and the breakfasts are well worth it. I would suggest you invest in a chemical toilet if you have mobility issues and camp at the bottom of the valley!

8 of us stayed at the Campsite at the end of September. It was an excellent site. Most of us were new to camping and were impressed by the cleanliness of the facilities, and the friendliness of the owner - nothing was too much for her! The bell tent we hired was huge and very sturdy. Great location, close to Brighton and also walks. Would definitely no again!

Stopped here after an error in my original booking nearer Brighton. Very helpful owner and very clean facilities. Great views over rolling downs.If you are following Google Maps don't take the narrow lane off the main road as you can't get there and it is very difficult to turn around. The route is actually off the main road but through a housing area. Google Maps may show this as an alternative route.

Incredible camping site. Just under an hour walk from Brighton or 20 mins with the bus. Stunning views and has good facilities. You can buy breakfast, fire pits, logs and ice from there.

The campsite is an open field, great views and bit like wild camping! Brighton is easily accessible by bus.Price-wise on the more expensive side.A deal downside were the facilities. Toilets and showers were dirty, some even had trash lying in them and after some point the water becomes cold due to demand.

A nice campsite but pitches slightly too close to each other. So I'd say not ideal for solo campers looking for some peace in nature. Annoyingly woken up at 1am by people arriving and pitching up with car lights lighting up my tent. Couldn't fault the host who is genuinely very nice and made me feel welcome
