Clear Soot

Tim Richards was hired to open the chimney in my house ready for my new range cooker. He charged me £1150 for it and has botched the job completely. The flu pipe was not sealed and the flu box that rests on the cooker is wonky. Furthermore he has broken the sealant plate in my chimney leaving a cold draft to enter my house from the outside. I am advised from other professionals that this allows dangerous fumes to enter my kitchen and have been therefor advised not to use the cooker.Upon taking this matter up with Mr Richards, he has refused to do anything to rectify the issue and has adamantly walked out on the job on a number of occasions and has been heard saying “carry on” in regards to what we should do, before leaving. We have seen him taking photos of a spirit level that he placed on the cooker but this is in attempt to cover his own mistakes should we make this review.Anyone curious about the quality of the workmanship of Mr Richards is welcome to come and see the state that my range cooker and chimney has been left in.

I cannot recommend Clear Soot highly enough. Mr Richards was meticulous. He made the absolute minimum of mess, cleared everything up, swept the chimney with 3 different brushes, cleaned all the grate and and baffle plate spotlessly. He polished up the glass front and made sure that the appliance was working perfectly, and that we had all the necessary safety features. He charges were very low, he drove here and spent nearly 2 hours - it was a big job. I gave him a nice tip. Tell all your friends.

Very experienced and knowledgeable about log burners and fitting.Second reviewOK speak as you find, this was second time Mr Richards has put log burner in at a very good price compared to others, so all went well and then when it rained we had water coming in to bedroom. Hey ho I suppose we cut a hole in the roof and this can happen. What I will say is Tim was round the house immediately to do all he could to locate the leak to the point that he hired scaffolding at no cost to me and went back on the roof in all weather's to resolve issues. This completely restored my faith in tradesmen. Mr Richards even offered to paint the bedroom which was not necessary. I accept sometimes faults occur but its how the tradesmen respond when you ring is the most important, Mr Richards stood the test of time and was outstanding in his response. Thank you Tim

MR. Richards cleaned my chimney today which hadnt been done for about 3yrs+ , he did a great professional job and no mess at all ! I would reccommend him to anyone who needed his service . Also was very polite and friendly . Cant Thank you enough !!
