The Govan Stones
Fascinating place. The oldest churchyard in Scotland, viking graves, prehistoric crosses and pre Christian prehistoric decorative stones! The guides are very knowledgeable, I recommend getting them to take you for a tour!

The Govan Stones
Excellent and underrated! Scott was a spectacular guide and went to great efforts to bring to life the fascinating history of the Govan stones, local history such as the Viking presence, etc. This was one of the BEST things we did during our recent visit to Glasgow and indeed all Scotland. Highly recommend it, and it was FREE, but please do support them with a donation in the cash box and gift shop, as the upkeep of this site is a worthy cause.

The Govan Stones
An easy 5 stars. Superb display of genuinely fascinating and important historical artefacts. The volunteer guides are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly and took time to make sure my kids enjoyed themselves. This is a superb and free family destination and feels like a Glasgow essential.

We had the pleasure of meeting the very knowledgeable Scott today. He took us on a guided tour of the stones, explaining just how influential the arrival of Vikings were to the history of the United Kingdom. I suggest anyone visiting Glasgow make a stop in Govan.

The Govan Stones are very impressive and well worth a visit. Good accompanying information and I never realised the history of Govan and the surrounding area. Excellent way to spend 1-2 hours if in the area.

The Govan Stones
An absolute must-see for anyone interested in early medieval history or the history of Scotland. The stones are magnificent, the guide was wonderful (sorry didn't catch your name but you were so interesting!!). I sincerely hope the plans to develop the church into a proper museum and visitor centre come to fruition.

So much history in such a small area. Don't overlook this wee gem of a place if you're visiting Glasgow, even if you're local you'll get something out of a visit!I have visited the site several times since my initial review, the most recent being after the discovery of the 'Govan Warrior' stone was found on site. Brilliant.
