Now my go to for a place in Crookes for me and my dad to relax, read and have lunch. Friendly staff, great food (made a sauerkraut convert out of me!) Would recommend!

Rude staff, wouldn’t make the food I choose even though it was on the menu telling me they don’t have time, but had time to make it for other customers! And told to go down the road to sandwich shop when I asked for a breakfast which is listed on menu and on there site ! Would definitely not recommend the sandwiches shop down the road is heads up one of the best places I have being so I’d go there instead

We had a fantastic lunch here; didn’t know what to expect but the quality of everything was top-notch. Also very reasonably priced cakes / pastries.

Lovely gem of a place. Absolutely delicious food, beautiful decor, very reasonably priced, friendly staff. Great vibe to the place, will definitely be returning. As a side note, I really appreciated seeing the free sanitary products in the (immaculate) bathroom. Thank you for thinking of that!

Great local place to stop for a lovely coffee, the food is definitely worth trying, especially the bagels. Great friendly service in a cool coffee shop, will definitely be going back again.

Very nice little cafe with good coffee and cakes. We tried the salted caramel cookies and vegan banana chocolate bun

For any locals or students who know about john's van, know how good their bagels are. But this place has beaten that by a country mile. I had to stop my meal multiple times to just savour and shake my fork in pleasure. They use great ingredients, cooking time is super fast, presentation astonishing and importantly their coffee is also delicious. There is a subtle art to perfecting a bagel like this, but the lost jockey's chef knows perfection in true form.Their home made cakes are delicious and the space is perfect for a peaceful lunch.

Lots of meat/sausage based options, German meat theme going on, with a veg and vegan option on the board too. I had the salami and gouda deli sandwich with coleslaw and German mustard and it was really, really good. Just the right amount of everything, with very tasty ingredients, and the tea was spot on too. I know oatmilk is pretty common now but I love it when it's available. The staff are friendly and polite, and it wasn't mega noisy which I appreciated, though it might get that way at busier times. Toilet facilities were clean and bright, probably not big enough for a wheelchair but the size of the premises limits them in that respect. I went in with a child and felt comfortable doing so. They have books, mostly for adults but we did spot Horrid Henry on the shelf! The decor is light and clean and thought-through, not overly cluttered. I did find myself speaking spatterings of GCSE German to the kid as we left (how embarassing) but that's definitely a personal flaw.
