CAU Steak Restaurant - Didsbury
Been in several times now most recently between Christmas and new years. Had a great time every time every time. Were seated at the bar first as it was so busy as the table was being cleaned. The bartender had drinks for us immediately and the cocktail that my friend ordered the 'cau girl martini' went down very well.The rest of our evening was just as great and the steaks were cooked brilliantly.Will return again soon.

Food when finally served was excellent ..staff polite and friendly and helpful .. but with a full house, rather over stretched.. menus had to be requested..and service very slow, its not cheap..drinks especially pricey! If in a group expect a 10% service charge.. modern and clean inside although the ceiling lights hung so low you have to be careful not to bump your head on them..plus the long canteen style table was cramped and awkward for a party of 10.. it's good but has areas needing attention

The food was excellent, the staff were nice. They seemed unorganized as they got our table number wrong when ordering drinks. Option for adding a gratuity wasn't asked it was added as part of the bill which i think is abit unfair. We also sat outside after the meal and paid quite alot for some basic details then we're charged another gratuity just for the drinks. Also the decor inside is really nice but there are marks all over the walls that haven't been cleaned

I’ve been here a few times and CAU has been consistently good, great steak and always cooked as ordered. The wine list and dessert menu are updated frequently to keep a bit of variety in the menu. Staff and polite and very attentive.

Loved the meal, best steak, best chips, best sauces. Wasnt happy about the 10% gratuity added onto the bill, I find it a bit pushy. Wiped it and paid the waiter ourselves. Maybe right or maybe wrong but is a bit pushy for me that. You never know who its going to, also I feel like its the customer paying the staffs wages and not the company if they do that. But regardless the food is impecable". Try the fish tacos"

The thing with CAU is, because of the location and the interior you automatically think it is going to be good. Not the case. Me and my Girlfriend ordered 2 ribeyes, and the waitress was really up herself, was being really patronising and talking down to us, as we know nothing about steaks. W\hen it did come, the cut was rubbish and was way over cooked. If a chef cannot cook a steak properly, then they should not be chef. I wouldn't mind but we were the only ones in at this point. The chips were dry as Gandhi's flip flop and not seasoned very well. I had 1 drink and she had a water and it cost me £50. The waitress didn't even come over to check how things were. Bad food, bad attitude & bad service. Never again

To be honest, it's hard to decide what rating to give. I would say that it's good good quality, but not the best I've had and that unless you benefit from an offer or discount, you will see that it can feel a bit pricey.Let's break it down:Staff and venue: Very friendly staff that will give you a good service and in a timely manner. The place is nice and clean but nothing outstanding.The food: I can't complain about the quality of the food. However, you will see that the portions of the starters are really small for what you are paying. Regarding the mains, I can only judge the meet. If you like meat, you will not be disappointed as CAU is all about steaks.Price: I've been to a lot of steakhouses and I feel that CAU is slightly expensive for what you get. It's ok, if you have a discount or voucher. Again, in some cases like the starters, it defenetly feels overpriced. I also don't like places where the tip is already included in the bill. I always tip, but I do it based on my free will to do so and that's the whole point of a tip.I will go back, and I guess it's fine as long as you are aware of all these things.

Well for the price of the steaks I would expect them to be cooked to our liking not over cooked, medium steaks were well done the house steaks looked like brown bacon. We were asked if we would like water to start with the tables next to us had jugs of tap water we got given £3.95 bottled water. The steak was salty not veg /sides came with the meal. Truly disappointed with the place TGI Fridays is better and cheaper. Give this place 3 stars only because felt bad giving 2

Brought the family here after recently moving to the area and it looked good. Was left pretty disappointed by a place that views itself as a steakhouse. The food was average at best, especially for the price. The sides have to be bought separately for most of the meals. The service was disappointing too, having to wait over 45 minutes for them to bring out the steaks. Its a shame as I had high hopes but won't be visiting again.
