Newbury Farmers Market

The stalls in market place are lovely - absolutely love the bread/cake stall some real delicious treats there!There is a veg/fruit stall on northbrook st that also appears, opposite wilkos - he is sort of letting the side down! Bizarre experience today where he rather loudly shouted at us for wanting to check if the avocados were ripe before buying. He complained to other customers that we “squeezed at least 6 or 7 already” and that “it wasn’t fair to other customers”.Checking that your fruit is ripe is an entirely normal act in most markets across this entire globe. Plus, avocados have skin…which isn’t edible! Very odd behaviour - my only possible explanation is that none of them are good quality? Who knows.

That's the last time I buy from a fruit seller outside Wilkos , i brought £10 worth of raspberries they looked beautiful in the front , the ones he gave me front the back are all mouldy old stock all the inside are mouldy , he shouldn't have sold them especially with the weather we've had , I stopped buying off fruit sellers for this reason years ago , now I've fallen for the same old trick !!! So upset

Small but good products

Lovely fresh produce, friendly stall holders, great to see the money going to the people who produce the goods, we have been going since the market started to get our meat, fish, fruit and vegetables, it's a pity its so much smaller than it was, so much better than going to a supermarket. Update September 2022 very much the same thank goodness...

As trader, not one of the best markets to , the first two hours it is practically empty.Talking with customers, it seems there is the same feeling about the trading hours.It should start 10 - 10:30 and finish around 14:00

I came from Reading because I had a free day and I saw on the internet that it's one of the best markets around. When I got there I first thought I came too late and the market already closed because there were only 4 stalls left. I then asked around and found out that is actually the market... it's just empty. Their official website is not updated so you won't find many of the things they are promoting. The best thing I found there was the créperie in front of the market place.

Nothing bad to say, the whole layout of all the stalls is very easy to navigate through. I got some brownies from a huge bakery stall and also some biltong from a lovely SA man. Both were very pleasant and cheerful.

Great farmers market with a decent variety. It's pretty small (just a few stalls) but fantastic way to source high quality local goods at very reasonable prices.

The Farmers market comes alive on Thursdays at the Town hall grounds. Farmers and entrepreneurs bring their produce for sale. Have a look

The best doughnuts from Pippins, fabulous chickens and sausages from Eadles and some proper fresh veg that actually tastes of something. Didnt need the other stalls today, but the quality is excellent and the prices very reasonable. I don't understand why more people don't use the markets.
