Chaucer Barn

Our daughter was married at Chaucer Barn yesterday the weather was absolutely awful, however the venue was brilliant and staff were so helpful. Lovely Wedding Venue.

The venue is beautiful and a lovely place to get married! However, we stayed overnight and found the house very very noisy, you could hear people breathe in the next room noisy! Our room was also not the cleanest.... I found a random mask of some man under the bed, the face did not belong in our party so clearly been there from previous guest! I Would recommend some sound proofing and a new cleaner and this place would be perfect

This January, we got married at Chaucer Barn and I couldn’t recommend it anymore as a venue to anyone who is after an intimate and beautiful place for a wedding. We loved every single second.We rented the barn for the whole weekend so had friends and family stay with us the Friday night, having fish and chips locally from down the road, got married on the Saturday and stayed together in the barn on the Sunday to reminisce.We arrived on the Friday and Cathryn and the team were amazingly helpful right from the off. They helped us arrange equipment hires and chatted us through how Saturday would work providing everything we needed. Our Saturday wedding day was just wonderful. The barn fills with sunshine at midday at this time of year and the garden/dining room are south facing so during our ceremony we had sun through the large and beautiful windows and the dining room filled with orange light for the speeches. We had fire pits outside and candles everywhere which created a gorgeous atmosphere. The barn is so warm (something our guests were worried about during the winter) and the fire places that we lit during our stay just added to the ambience. Our friends stayed in the surrounding 5 lodges which was perfect for accommodation for the 2 nights they were around, and they were all equally impressed with the lodges, especially the log burners in them! We also had guests stay close by in nearby accommodation, some within walking distance of the barn, which was perfect and lots available!We had the most incredible caterers Carway-Roe for the wedding day who couldn’t do enough for us, and their winter picnic menu was stunning - we had so many compliments! We also had a brilliant bar team: Crab and Fox, who set up a bar on the Friday in the downstairs bedroom that looked beautiful and was fab for the event. Our band were superb, ‘Harley Street Band’ and they set up in the main ceremony room in front of the glass doors. This ceremony room turns into the most awesome and intimate face floor and the balcony area makes for some brilliant shots of dancing!!All in all, we had the most wonderful weekend and we loved Chaucer and would recommend to anyone.

Having had two postponed wedding dates, we FINALLY got to have our BEST DAY EVER at Chaucer Barn last weekend! It truly is a fantastic venue. Photos really don't do it justice - you have to BE THERE to feel that home from home vibe that can be further achieved by adding your own personal touches around the place. Tessa was brilliant. She was always quick to answer any queries and re-assure us throughout all the uncertainties - and was particularly helpful during set-up when a few unexpected issues arose! The weather was kind enough for us to hold the ceremony outside, which was a bonus as the grounds are spectacular! However, we had LOTS of twinkly lights (and hearts!) up inside - just in case! It truly is a wonderful place - full of charm with a definite WOW factor.

Chaucer Barn is the most beautiful place to host any type of event. I hired the barn and the lodges for the weekend to celebrate a surprise 60th Birthday weekend for my mum . From booking to staying, Cathryn was exceptional at answering any questions I had ( there were many)!I just loved how flexible everything was in terms of booking entertainment, catering, banquet hire and decorations. I was also given some fabulous recommendations too.The space is large but cosy, it was beautifully clean, unique, the grounds are stunning, and everyone had THE BEST time! Thank you for having us, we hope to come back again one day! #TammyTurns60!

From the moment we looked round Chaucer Barn we fell in love with it. We originally wanted our wedding ceremony outside and Chaucer has 3+ areas you can do that. The weather on the day didn't allow for that but actually we didn't mind. It felt so special and intimate getting married in the main hall. As I walked along the stair case I could look down at all my guests smiling up. Despite the weather we still spent time time in the stunning gardens. They are simply beautiful.When your hire Chaucer for a wedding over a weekend you get it from the Friday till the Monday. This meant we could enjoy the day after the wedding rather than rushing out straight away the next day. It was so nice to house over half of our guests. We hired the lodges too which was great.Tessa, Alan and Cathryn were extremely helpful in the run up to the wedding. They were always on the end of an email or there in person for advice on our set up or when looking round. They had great advice and gave good recommendations for vendors.Some things to consider if you are hiring Chaucer:- You can use the furniture there but this is not enough for a full wedding party. We hired chairs/tables/cutlery/crockery ect. Our amazing caterers helped with this (Country Box Catering).- we were advised to hire extra things e.g. an additional toilet block, chairs/tables, a stretch tent. We only had 60 guests so this was manageable without all the recommended items. Just bare this in mind when budgeting. Chaucer are very used to local vendors and were very helpful in the set up/directing them.- There is a deposit additional to the hire purchase. We got this back in full but worth to note when pricing up your wedding.Overall, we had the most special day and absolutely loved Chaucer Barn. We have spoken about trying to book a lodge for our future anniversaries.

A five star experience! We couldn't recommend Chaucer Barn and the team highly enough. Lee and Cathryn accommodated all our needs and were a delight to work alongside. They only work with the best suppliers in the industry and that really showed.Our wedding reception was in April 2023 when the gardens were at their ultimate spring beauty.The house was the perfect informal setting for the bridal party to get ready and for a house party" feel for the band and dancing in the evening. Using the lodges for extra accommodation was an added bonus.We loved that we could have guests back to the barn the following day for a pizza lunch and games on the lawn so we could spend more time with our nearest and dearest.We were flooded with compliments on how amazing Chaucer Barn is as a wedding venue choice and we are so happy we have our magical photography and videography to be able to relive the feeling!We hope to be able to stay at the house again for other celebrations in the future."

We got married in this stunning venue in March. This was the first and only venue we looked at. I fell in love with it straight away. The grounds are beautiful and the barn itself is perfect. Everything we needed and so much more.Tessa and the rest of the staff were so helpful throughout, especially on the wedding day itself. We didn't have to worry about a thing. The venue was perfect in everyway. We had the most wonderful, stress free wedding. We would highly recommend this venue for a wedding.

Chaucer Barn is a magical venue with gardens and parkland that will take your breath away!Everybody is so very helpful and welcoming and the venue has a 'home from home' feel.This beautiful barn is perfect for any occasion and we love visiting to supply our bar services for our Chaucer Barn clients.

So we recently stayed in a lodge after booking through an online site. We were really excited but sadly they were not up to luxury standards as described.Issues;See photos,Our toilet had stains" in still.The windows were filthy.The door does not lock from the inside so you sleep with an unlocked door at night.They have a wood burner
