An absolutely amazing place to see, from old castle ruins to the summer house. The vast 2000 acre heritage site is a hidden gem. Both glamping and camping available on site with excellent facilities. Friendly staff are at reception to answer any questions you may have. In regards to facilities that would help with upkeep and maintenance would be to have more disposal bins scattered around the estate.... I only seen a bin for doggy poop in the main parking area, so my little bit of rubbish came home with me. My suggestion would be to bring a packed lunch or eat elsewhere before or after you explore the grounds. (reasons in following paragraph)Only thing that was disappointing was the meal we had in the restaurant unfortunately and with the prices of the food we were expecting better quality. My other issue was that only food purchased from the small restaurant was allowed to be consumed, which is totally acceptable and a fairly common policy in restaurants, however I think if you carry in your own bottle of water you should not feel that you have to hide it. I drank from this bottle as I walked around the grounds so I feel that customers should be allowed to enjoy their own drinks with their meal. The food was bland and below average, maybe we got them on a bad day. However I would be reluctant to pay for food here, if I was to return in the future. When I mentioned the lack of flavour from the meal to the staff, there was no apologies nor barely a recognition that I had given feedback, a shallow laugh was not what I was expecting and I wasn't rude or abrupt with my feedback....after lifting 5 half eaten meals from the table, with the same leftover salad rice" I lightheartedly said

Great place, pity it's owned by the national Trust. Staff on location are great, facilities are very good but can't give 5 stars due to ownership. National Trust have just caused so much bad feelings on the North Coast.
