The Hair Shop

Went in for a colour treatment to this salon having had my hair trimmed there previously. Unfortunately I came out with my hair colour looking nothing like I had asked for - despite discussing the brief and taking in a picture. To the point when I got home, my husband and kids didn't notice I'd had anything done. The salon could see I wasn't overly happy with the end result at the time, and I rang in a couple of days later to ask for them to have another go at getting it the colour I wanted - seeing as I had paid £80. They agreed to have another go the following weekend. During the space of that week however, parts of my hair started to turn green! So I rang in again, to tell them that putting more bleach in my hair and dying my hair further, might not be a good idea as my hair has obviously reacted to the pigment - , and therefore asked for a refund. The hairdresser 'spoke to the manager' and got back to me, saying that they are a ''non refundable salon'' (whatever that is) and point blank refused to give me a refund - or even a partial refund, even though I had explained my hair was not right to start with - let alone now, having turned green! They were only prepared to take the green out - which they did the following Saturday, however my hair is now back to where I started in the first place - almost the same brown I went in with! (except I am £80 lighter in the pocket) It is the Managers responsibility to take ownership of these type of situations - when I went in to get the green taken out, she made no effort to talk to me, offer me any sort of refund or even an apology, leaving the responsibility down to the staff. Its a shoddy way to treat customers, when you pay for a service that you don't get, I will never ever go to this salon again - so she has in effect lost 3 customers (including my daughters) down to greed.

If I could rate higher I would! Have had my hair done multiple times here and am always in love with the end product! All the staff are amazing and take care of you and your hair the minute you walk through the door! Highly recommend to anyone x

Stylist Caitlan was lovely and did great job. Got hair dyed and half head highlights then cut and blow dry. I just about died at the price should have been £150 but they gave me a discount so cost £137. Although it was lovely I dont think it was worth that much. Very expensive hairdresser, I get the same treatment up in scotland for half the price.

Kelly saved my hair!I am forever thankful that a professional hair colourist / stylist says what she means and can deliver! I‘ve been fortunate enough to have had good strong hair, but it only took one episode locally with someone who with a load of experience didn’t listen to my wishes and turned my hair into a bit of a mess and mishmash of colour. Going grey gracefully from a red auburn to all grey was my wish and that didn’t happen!But talking it through with Kelly she had all the confidence to ease my trepidations! She might be new to this salon but she knows her stuff! All the stylists were watching and waiting for the end result and I have to say they were all very impressed and happy, as I sure am! A Huge Thank You to Kelly especially but also to the other ladies who conferred with her to what she was recommending to do on my hair. It’s really lovely and I will A loyal client to Kelly!Thank you

Really shoddy customer service and a massive disappointment. Arrived for my first booked appointment to be told that the stylist wasn’t available so was sent away and booked for another day. Nobody had asked for my phone number so I wasn’t contactable. The salon is well over an hours round trip from my house.Arrived on time for my second appointment to see a text message from the Hair Shop as I pulled up outside telling me that the stylist had gone home and could I contact them to rebook. The message had been sent after I’d already left to make my way there and so it was another totally pointless round trip for me. The member of staff I dealt with seemed largely unbothered by the inconvenience. Would absolutely not recommend this place unless you live right next door, have nothing better to do with your day and are happy to be let down repeatedly. This should have been a zero star review.

An extremely welcoming salon with very friendly staff who did a really professional job. Kelly did a wedding 'up do' for my bride Jeanie and jasmine did the one for her bridesmaid Louise. We were extremely pleased with the results and highly recommend.

A very welcoming place and a great, positive staff. I was visiting and had my men's haircut done in a professional and fast manner.At the salon was offered tea or coffee which is typical to how you would get treated in upper echelon salons, but at an affordable cost with great attitude and positiveness.I certainly recommend this place to people locally or tourists visiting Newquay, Cornwall.

I believe it was Jasmine who cut my hair, lovely girl with red hair. She was brilliant and very pleasant and chatty. She asked me lots of questions to make sure she knew what I wanted and she did an excellent job. Thank you!
