Norwich Airport

Very quaint little airport, mostly hassle free. £4 drop off parking fee and £10 Airport Development Fee are a bit of a ripoff.

Where does the 10 pound airport development fee go? Its certainly not on retail outlets or staff training! It’s certainly not used to enhance passenger experience. I have never had to pay to get into a departure area in any airport i have travelled from.The check in staff were rude. My bag was 1 kg over weight and I was advised that there would be a 65 pound charge. I asked why. I was told it’s a safety issue. However if I paid the 65 pound I didn’t need to remove the weight indicating it’s a money making scheme rather than safety. I removed the 1kg and put it into my backpack which is going onto the same plane!The security staff at the metal detector were rude and disrespectful and quite hostile. I had to remove my shoes, stand on a box and lift my toes so they could look under them with a mirror. I have never seen this before in my life. They emptied my carry-on bag to check the contents and just walked away when finished leaving all of my belongings on the counter.Poorly organised and limited airport with backwards practices.This is the worst airport I have ever had the displeasure to travel from!

The WORST experience I've ever had. Staff rude literally anywhere and everywhere. Don't get me started on how I was spoken to in security. Spent a disgusting amount in the only place open, that flower and bean restaurant (£15 for a pint and a whiskey and coke and £8 something for TWO cheese and bacon turn overs), staff bloody rude in there as well. You've got a WHSmith that isn't even open. You've got a duty free shop about the side of a large bedroom and nothing is actually cheap. Flight itself was delayed 40 minutes and I was bored after my first 20 minutes sat in the airport and I'd arrived 2 hours early as told. My poor mum dropped me off at 4:30am, we literally pulled up got our stuff out the car and went. Would've taken all of about 2 minutes and was charged £5 for drop off. Not to mention the £10 development fee for an airport with NOTHING in it. The whole facility is an absolute joke. In future I'd rather make the journey to London than spend a second in this joke of an airport.

The plus sized woman behind the checkin counter was very rude and unhelpful. She was very moody and it was apparent she didn’t want to be there. She also snatched our passports of us as if it was a double cheeseburger and made us miss our flight filling out a form we didn’t even need to fill in due to her lack of geographic knowledge. Would give this airport 0 stars if i could. Norwich airport do better and get rid of her.

Recently returned from Rhodes. 15 minutes on runway because another flight had arrived after the Rhodes flight so that had to disembark first. I appreciate the reasoning the KLM Flight was smaller. But my biggest complaint is for many years passengers have been paying an Airport Improvement Tax yet paying passengers still have to queue in the rain to get through border control and then collect your baggage from an inadequate carousel. Come on Norwich Airport tell us what you are spending this stealth charge on.

Ample parking space on arrival but still have to pay the £10 'development' fee. Not sure what is being developed as their were no shops open on check in side when we flew. Staff got our group of 10 checked in efficiently and with a friendly attitude. Security were professional and fair and then we passed through a well stocked duty free shop. The departures lounge was ok with nice clean toilets, however I was a little disappointed that the main eatery stopped serving before our flight was due to leave (which was compounded by a delay to our flight). It is fairly well known Norwich has a shorter runway so takeoff and landing are exhilarating to say the least. Coming back home was a breeze and we coasted through, although the baggage claim is a little small.

The most ridiculous airport I’ve ever been to. First and most shocking discovery you don’t scan your boarding nor your passport to get in the departure zone. You scan a ticket you need to purchase. You have to buy a 10£ ticket to get to your plane! I travelled the world and have never encountered such a rip-off. At that “very” busy airport it is also impossible to drop someone off directly at the entrance. The car needs to go through the parking where you pay a minimum fee of 4£!!! That’s where you get out take your suitcases and rush through the rain to the airport. Last not least I was the only person at the security as this airport operates like one plane a day or something. It took me 20 min to get through the security as I overlooked a 120ml (!!!) bottle of shower gel in my suitcase. The absurdity of that situation was beyond comprehension. There you go it might be convenient if you travel from Norwich and I have to point out entire staff is super super lovely and professional but the way that place is organized is just special.

£10 per person Airport tax for upgrade still in place after 16 years in place n no upgrade seen. They should at least have a covered tunnel when boarding or getting off the plane otherwise if it is raining, you get soaked- not a good way to start or end your holiday and now £5 short stay drop off in place since covid - why ?Also despite having a hospital/ medical letter advising I cannot go through security arch, although the ladies that searched me going out of Norwich were kind but on arrival back in Norwich, again I can’t go through security arch, the way that I was spoken to by one lady from Border Force was appalling and rude. Eventually after having to wait for all other Passengers to leave the airport lounge was I then again after reiterating I was not going through the security arch, I was walked outside and around to the exit.Norwich airport - I hope you learn from this appalling service as all other airports, including those abroad I never have any problems.

It's quiet, small but perfectly formed. Car parking on site very easy and reasonably priced. Easy through security etc. Only gripe is the £10 airport development charge which for a family of 4 was almost as much as the carpark but I suppose if that's what it needs to survive and develop then so be it
