The gardens are very small, but attractive with shaded seating. The Interpretation Centre was closed at the time of our visit and so, not being Welsh speakers, we were unable to glean any information about Hywel Dda's laws from the boards in the garden. This was very disappointing.

Interesting small garden with lots of welsh history. Lovely cafe and interesting historical display inside around the walls.

Hywel Dda Gardens
A lot smaller than expected and there were no English signs. I can speak Welsh but the signage that was there was hard to decipher

Interesting gardens made more so by the very knowledgeable guide who explained the Welsh history behind the garden design. The only garden in Europe dedicated to the law. It celebrates the achievements of Hywel Dda (Hywel the Good), ‘King of all Wales’ during the first half of the tenth century. According to tradition King Hywel Dda called a great assembly of lawyers and leaders from all over his kingdom to the ‘Ty Gwyn-ar-Daf’(the white house on the Taf), now known as Whitland, to study the laws of various provinces and to draw up a unified legal code for Wales.Well worth a visit

Small but picturesque. Wonderful cafe, pancakes or waffles with bacon and syrup or waffles with ice cream and fruit. Good coffee too.
