Holdi Rainford Indian Restaurant
I took a friend there last night who was visiting from Slovakia. I had been here before and enjoyed the atmosphere and banter with the guys who work here. The food is amazing and the service second to none. Last night was no exception, we both enjoyed our meals which were cooked to perfection.this will now be our go to curry house.

My experience at Holi was absolutely fantastic, the food was excellent and staff went to a lot of trouble to make sure the food was to my childrens taste. Kalam was very attentive and made special welcome drinks making our Holdi experience that little more special so thanks you everyone at Holdi delicious food would highly recommend

Tried twice, never again. The dishes are VERY greasy and lacking in spice and depth of flavour expected from Indian food, the Aubergine Bhaji was absolutely inedible, pieces of waterlogged chewy sponge that would not even yield to a sharp knife, I cook them regularly and I can tell the person who cooked that dish had not a clue, it needed another 20+ minutes of cooking. Every dish was swimming in grease, we measured 4 tablespoons floating on top of each small vegetable carton. The typical bad curry that leaks grease everywhere, literally dripping out the bag all over the kitchen. Wretch worthy.Our 1st visit the Biryani was OK, although the curry sauce was watery and tasteless, the other dish was so mild it didn't have much flavour after the description stating it was bursting with coriander etc, onion bhaji were over fried. Though give it one more try with different dishes, 2nd time the biri was very greasy and bland and nothing like the 1st,the bhuna sauce was sad. All the dishes were bland. Indian food isn't always necessarily hot from chilli but you should be able to taste the spice profiles like cardamom, cloves, pepper etc. Scrimping on ingredients or using cheap spices. The Goan prawns had a hint of spice but no heat...not in line with my vast experience of Goan curries in the past. The 2nd takeaway went in the bin as the flavour did not outweigh that much grease. The little I did eat made me nauseous. Money down the drain. Cant figure the high ratings, although I was suspicious that a lot of young families with children were dinning on the curries in the restaurant. It's a heavily anglicised (sweet and mild) version of curry served at Holdi, not typical of the region its from. We've eaten hundreds of curries all over the UK and the world, this sadly was was up with one of the worst. We are however, grateful not to have been poisoned, this is the only pro with our experiences with Holdi.

Holdi Rainford Indian Restaurant
Beautiful food. Friendly staff. Great price point. I will never go to another restaurant for Indian food. The butter chicken and chicken pasanda paneer are divine.
