Aquila Court Student Accommodation
Accommodation with constant maintenance issues such as sewage and water flooding lower floor apartments including electrics during final week of dissertation! Manager would not respond to emergency calls even though 2 fire engines were in attendance.

Good location, has all the utilities you would requireBedroom and kitchen unbearably hot when the outdoor temperature goes above 17 degreesThe extractor fan in my bathroom broke in February and was not fixed during the tenancy (which ended in September)

Rooms, location, amenities and facilities are good. Buses pick and drop right in front of the building. Modern architecture. But constant rail traffic nearby is a bit annoying. Heaters and hobs are allowed for limited durations, after which they can be reused. Overall, one of the good accommodations in Bath, UK.

Very nice and modern building, located very close to the city centre. The building and location is very safe and even has convenient buses to the university and back (U2) except during the summer (U1). Easy place to make friends due to the set up of the accommodation. Big kitchen, nice modern rooms. Some rooms face extreme temperatures but I didn’t have that issues except during the summer heat wave. The reason this fantastic accommodation gets 2 stars is due the to nightmare that is the accommodation management. Poppy is very sweet and helpful in all regards but Angelina is not and only ever pretends to care. She is unprofessional, unhelpful and rude. Anytime you go to her with issues, she will write them down but never actually resolve them.If you can look past this issues, then this is a great place to live. You get to see the canal which is beautiful during sunrise and sunset. I suggest grabbing a coffee and croissant from Mokoko which is across the road and enjoying it!

Nice rooms, lovely kitchen and living room. Games room is great too! Heaters are horrible!! The 45 minute boost does nothing, but I've heard way worse about other accommodations. 7/10 recommend.

As a fourth-year student at the University of Bath (UoB), I have stayed in many types of accommodation provided by the university. Among them, Aquila Court stands out as one of the best options. Located in the City Centre, Aquila Court is a better choice for students who aim to explore Bath and its offerings alongside their studies. The building offers various facilities, which is a nice benefit considering the rent. For instance, Aquila provides an adequate gym fitted with one cable machine and various cardio equipment, a very large gaming room with a TV, PlayStation, etc., and various study spaces located within the entrance of the building. All of these facilities are kept extremely clean by weekly cleaners and dedicated management. One thing to note is that Aquila Court is a private third-party accommodation option for postgraduate UoB students, with its own self-governing management. Despite the independence of Aquila, the integration between the accommodation and the university is excellent. University security can be called within 10 minutes to provide help when needed.Personal rooms and kitchens are by far the best among the options offered by UoB. Bedrooms have innovative solutions to make the most of the space, with 3/4 double beds also serving as storage space. The kitchens are modern and offer ample space for a full flat. However, unlike UoB campus accommodation, students must clean their own kitchens. The staff is continuously committed to ensuring the maintenance of the building, taking care of facilities and renovations before any issues arise. Students are also updated about upcoming maintenance, so there are no surprise visits to worry about! The staff are surprisingly available throughout the workday to help with general inquiries, accommodation-related matters, or any other help a postgrad or international student might need. In this regard, Aquila excels the most, as many UoB accommodations do not have a dedicated team of staff but rather rely on general support teams. Having a team of friendly members on standby means that inquiries, problems, and help are always available very quickly.Overall, while Aquila is extremely expensive, it is nevertheless one of the best options for postgraduate study at UoB. If a city centre location and the reassurance of a supportive and helpful team of staff are important to you, then I would highly recommend Aquila.

The building looks nice and there are nice common areas for students to relax & study. BUT, during winter, the heating was too cold, and rooms were regularly under 12 degrees celcius (top floor). The small radiator in our room had to be manually turned on, and would turn itself off after 10 minutes. So, youd have to get up, turn it on again. This was very disruptive during study. And, during the night, it meant the heating was off throughout. It was so cold me and flatmates wore coats in our rooms and kitchens, and i found it very hard to study. I also found myself getting ill a lot from the cold.Fire safety is also a big issue. After a year living here, there was maybe 2 fire drills. After 8 months of living here, there was an inspection which checked the fire alarms in our rooms and kitchens. One of my flatmates fire alarm had not been working this whole time. And when they found out, it took 2 months for a new one to be fixed (even though my flatmate had emailed management multiple times to ask when it would be fixed)It is really scary to think there could be a fire in the building and noone would know until it spread… and it wasnt an isolated incident as mentioned in another review. Also, when students brought their own heaters (which many did) some were removed by accommodation team. My flatmate’s mini heater was taken from his room by management. I understand heaters are not aloud but it was so cold some felt it was the only option..Also, even maintenance mentioned how the building itself isn’t fire safe (because of positioning of exit doors) which is also worrying..

Management are worse than useless. Complaints not acted on. Maintenance crew were great - friendly and helpful.Rooms are too hot in summer, too cold in winter. BEWARE some of the five star reviews have been posted by management's family and friends to boost the score.

Rooms were nice although there was a lot of noise! Heaters don't work well at all so cold days are a nightmare. The manager Angelina" is very unkind

The rooms are very cold and the heaters work horribly. They turn off every 20 minutes which is very disruptive during studying. The decision to have the heaters turn off is on purpose by whoever manages the accommodation or accommodations and is a clear attempt to save money on electricity. The hobs also turn off every 15 minutes. Therefore, cooking becomes annoying because I can't leave certain recipes that require simmering at low heat for hours without having to be in the kitchen periodically turning the hobs on. I understand the time limit to avoid a fire accident but come on, 15 minutes is not enough for most recipes. Put it at 30 minutes at least. We are Master students, not a bunch of 1st year undergrads that are cooking for the first time.
