168 Oriental

I don't usually do reviews but this place has gotten on my last nerve. To start, over two years ago my friend was racially profiled and kicked out of the shop for speaking their home language. I decided to not go to this store ever again due to this. Today I was looking for tteokbokki and my normal shop was out so I went here as a last resort. After looking around for ~10 minutes I decided to ask a worker where it is. She immidiately started huffing and puffing exremely agitated that I needed help. Whatever. we all have those days. She points me to Tapioca pearls and says its here how did you not see this? I said tteokbokki not tapioca. She asked me what that was and I told her it is Korean rice cakes in the shape of a finger. She grunted then pointed me at some mochi cakes? and said these are Korean rice cakes. I disagreed with her and she started speaking with a coworker clearly agitated about the situation. She then says that the Korean section is in the back corner of the store and made me feel stupid for not seeing it. It was a bunch of tteokbokki sauces but not the rice cakes themselves. She walked off. I pretended to look for another 30 seconds before leaving in a rush. It was completely rude and disrespectful behaviour for me to ask for an item in a store I was giving a second chance. Never going again.

It's 2023/post-pandemic, you cannot refuse to accept card payments under £5, it's in the city centre so there are at least two other Oriental supermarkets which I can, and will, choose to go to instead.

Good variety of choices. But price a little bit expensive. Properly because of the good local in city centre.It will be better if the shop can be more tidy and organised.

Many Asian food. You can buy fish source, pork, meat . i meant everything you need

Went to the restaurant yesterday (18/10/23) and had a nice roasted duck on rice. Then left my bag there. Went back the next day and met a nice boy and girl who helped me. Really appreciate your kindness.

It has so much and certainly got myself some tasty treats. They also stock fresh produce.

First time I've been, it's great my son took me in, I bought a Mango drink, some noodles and some delicious squidgy milk sweets with various fillings from green tea, red bean to coffee.

Good selection of Asian food. For a non-speaker of Asian languages it can be a bit daunting to identify the right ingredients, but staff are helpful.

Wont be coming back, got illegally charged full price for a broken item I didn’t even take home
