Royal Derby Hospital Children’s Emergency Department

Absolutely ridiculous.... I will NOT be taking my children there again. I would much rather travel for miles to get them care in another area. My 10 Yr old is autistic & after emergency surgery for a testicular torsion (which they missed on 1st visit! Apparently it was an infection) he is still in immense pain 8wks later! . Dr's at rdh children's a&e told my child that he was lying about the pain he's in!DRH in general is a bad hospital but you would get better care for your children in a 3rd world country.

Terrible waiting times. Very poor management. Went in at 5 pm came out at 3am. There were not even a dozen patients, but seem totally unprepared to handle these volumes let alone high numbers in case of accidents, natural disasters etc that in other countries' A&E are dealing with. Visiting this place is a traumatic experience for children as well as parents. Government has no money for NHS but plenty for foreign wars.

What an absolute joke of a place, parking is absolutely ridiculous.Left over an hour from our home and we ended up missing our appointment due to insane parking queues. How on earth are you supposed to attend appointments, does everyone do their shopping at the hospital or what!?!?!?

Not very friendly staff

Dealt with our two year olds dislocated elbow swiftly and very well. We were in and out very quickly (within 20 minutes) and the nurses were lovely. They had to put it back in place, but they were fantastic. Thank you!

Spent 4 hours down here tonight with my autistic toddler who was very clearly struggling with the environment. Not one person approached us to check we were okay, over 10-12 nurses all at the station. Terrible waiting times, stressful for the children, no where to sit, absolutely crammed. It's horrendous. There were new born babies and their mothers standing in the corridor, it's just shocking.

Nurse Tasha was excellent in the Childrens A&E . Professional, warm and caring and put us at ease today.The male Dr on the shift was brilliant explaining the functions of our blood in a way which really helped.Thank you both.
