Fidgets

It is reassuring to go somewhere solely catered to children. Although once or twice my children have still had stray hairs that have been missed, we have left most of their appointments happy customers. We return every month.

I'm not going to lie I was a little disappointed with my little boys first hair cut. It was not how I had imagined. The whole thing was rushed and the woman who was cutting his hair just seemed like she wanted to get it over and done with and get out of there. No interaction with my son at all. She shaved round the edges at the back of his head and it look stupid! I had people comment on how bad the cut was. I wasn't majorly stressed about it but if you want you're child's first haircut experience to be a good one then I'd avoid this place.

Fantastic for getting my daughter's hair cut. Staff are great and do a really good job.Daughter loves choosing which car to sit in and getting a little treat at the end!

Had high hopes but left feeling really stressed and disappointed. My 2yo son absolutely hated the experience and left stressed and upset. You'd think that given the nature of the work involving young children that there would be more patience involved and a much calmer, nurturing demeanour but the experience was unpleasant, and the atmosphere was chaotic and rushed. I basically had to hold him down whilst he screamed in the end because it was more important she rush through it and do the haircut in 15 minutes than it was to take time, allow my son to calm down and actually do a decent job of the cut and make it look good, which was, in fact, the whole point of coming. The haircut itself was terrible and I even had family and friends commenting on how bad it was for weeks until it eventually grew out. I have had more compliments from me cutting his hair at home and I'm no hairdresser by any stretch of the imagination! Rang to complain about how bad it was and even when I came back in for a correction it was a similar experience and it still looked terrible. I'll never come back.

I visited Fidgets in September with my then 14 month old little boy. He can be quite shy so I chose fidgets instead of a normal barbers as I thought it might make the experience a bit smoother. He wasn’t desperate for a haircut but we were going to a wedding so just wanted a tidy up.We couldn’t get parked outside so my husband went to park nearby and said he would join us when he had done this.We turned up for our appointment and got to choose a little car to sit in. We weren’t asked if there was anything he enjoyed watching and cocomelon was put on the tablet. He doesn’t watch cocomelon at home so wasn’t particularly interested. As soon as the girl began to cut his hair he got upset and was reaching out for me to pick him up which I did. The girl continued to cut his hair as he was crying and squirming on my knee instead of just giving him 5 minutes to calm down. I had also mentioned I did not want clippers used (we had previously been to another well known local children’s salon and this was not an issue). Due to my little boy being so upset the girl said she would need to use clippers to tidy it up, I wasn’t happy about this but agreed to it to get the experience over sooner rather than later as I was practically restraining him by this point.My little boy was very upset and I don’t feel the care and time was taken which to me is the whole premise of ‘fidgets’. I was in and out within about 10 mins if that, the appointment slots are longer to allow time for children to be calmed and get used to what is happening surely?!My husband hadn’t even parked the car before we were out.And then there is the haircut he received which was quite frankly awful (I’ll attach photos below). We rang to complain as the whole experience was terrible, the manager agreed refund us our money after seeing the photos (after first asking us to come back so she could have a look and fix it, I don’t think it could be fixed unless she was going to shave his full head). She also commented that the girl who cut our little one’s head mentioned he ‘wouldn’t keep still’, surely this is the core concept of the business but it seems we were mistaken.Needless to say we wouldn’t return to fidgets my little boy left stressed and upset and the experience was drastically different to what we experienced with his first haircut at another local children’s salon we just thought to try fidgets as it was closer.

Lovely experience for my 5 year old granddaughter. Great set up to entertain and distract kids from the purpose of their visit and it is very popular as I noticed one didn't want to leave. Child friendly staff experienced in managing smaller children to complete the task. I would go again and recommend this for families with very young children.

Did an amazing job with both our girls hair today. Younger One just got her hair done cause her sister was and didn't really need it so they cut a tiny bit off for her. So quick, so easy, our older daughter is autistic and sometimes isn't great at following instructions which usually feels like a barrier in most places but not here. They didn't care at all that she didn't follow their instructions just brought in reinforcements. Everyone has complimented her new hair and she loves it.

I was worried my 2 year old wouldn't let the hairdresser near her for her first cut but she did! It helped having her sister there but Fidgets know kids and offered pink cars, moving cars around so we had 2, ipads and we're very friendly. You can only try but it's a perfect place for kids.
