Booked for lunch today at The Rose and Crown, my first visit and hopefully nit my last! Was recommended this place by a friend and she was not wrong - the food is fabulous, the venue is great and the staff are lovely.We were served quickly and the food arrived very promptly and was fresh and delicious. The staff were very friendly and professional.Noticed on the way out that it is also dog friendly so I'll definitely go back and take my pooch for lunch in the future.

We stayed here for my Mum’s birthday a few weeks ago. I can honestly say that we absolutely loved it! The bedrooms were perfect, decorated beautifully and spotlessly clean.In addition, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The Manager, Holly, did everything to make us feel comfortable & at home… Nothing was too much effort for them. The food was also very yummy.Such a lovely experience. We will definitely be back!

Stopped for a night here on our trip along the King Alfred's Way.Great community pub with a wonderfully welcoming atmosphere. Everything about this place is exactly what you would hope for in this part of the world. Good beers, great food and excellent management. Would stay again and again.(Also happily accomodated our bikes)

Went there with friends for a meal. We were greeted as soon as we walked through the door with big smiles.We were taken to our table and immediately asked what we would like to drink.The choice of food was amazing. We all had starters and mains, but none of us had room for desert.Great atmosphere. Thank you.

Great location to drop into if walking on the Ridgeway. Service dropped a star for not allowing a tab if eating outside meaning multiple payments. Could offer to retain credit card as other places do. Good selection of food both lighter snacks and meals. We had toasted sandwiches which were delicious. Good value too .

What a hidden gem! Holly and the team hosted us for a team Christmas lunch recently and they really went above and beyond. Nothing was too much trouble, they really made us feel so welcome. We can’t thank everyone enough! Brilliant food and service. The function room was decorated beautifully too and we had a lovely afternoon. Will definitely be back soon! Thank you again x

Popped in for warm drinks, about lunchtime, after walking up White Horse Hill and Dragon Hill, on a very wet and windy Saturday morning. We were made to feel very welcome, and the tea and coffees hit the spot.Beautiful pub, with lots of history.We will definitely be back to do more exploring in the area, and will make this our go to for food and drinks while we're there.Highly recommend.

Our 2nd stay at The Rose & Crown and just as good as our 1st, maybe even better.Rooms are comfortable and clean, and we slept so well.Great choice at breakfast, and the food served is just delicious.Holly and her team made us feel like we were VIPs, including Izzy, the dog. The locals made us feel so welcome. We didn't want to leave and will be back later in the year.If you're in the area, pop in for great food and a great welcome, or if you're looking for somewhere to stay in the area, then look no further.
