Taunton Minster (St Mary Magdalene Church)

Me impresionó ver la cafetería dentro de una iglesia... es una buena idea... ojalá en España se hiciera lo mismo... buen café y buen ambiente..

Superb church with great shop cafe and a friendly ear.Currently hosting till the 31st March 2022 the museum of the moon.This is an inflatable 6m wide moon created from thousands of photos. You get to see the dark side of the moon. A must to see whilst it lasts

This is a lovely old church, that has been at the heart of the town for a millennium. Recently given the title of Minster to reflect its importance.I've been before for a number of musical events, but on this occasion, it was to see the Gaia exhibition. I had missed the Moon exhibition previously, so was really keen not to miss this one.It didn't disappoint! The appearance of the globe in the middle of the church is quite stunning. You easily imagine how the astronauts felt as they looked down upon the good Earth" from so far away.I actually found it a bit surprising that so many people didn't recognise the land masses. The cloud formations obscure quite a few coastlines

Wonderful very large parish church recently renamed as Taunton Minster. It has a remarkable Somerset Tower..one of the tallest in a county which takes pride in its magnificent church towers. The golden angels in the nave roof looking down on the Gaia installation showing our world suspended below looked amazing in April 2023

Visited here today during a trip to Taunton. Extremely welcoming without being overbearing lady greeted us and gave us a brief overview of the building. No pressure to donated upon entry. Coffee area and small gift shop inside the church. Stunning stained glass windows with wonderful detail. The wooden ceiling with angels each holding a different shield was a beautiful piece of art work in its own right. We were then invited to view via remote video link peregrine’s who were sitting on four eggs in a nest on top of the tower!..overall well worth a visit. Disability access throughout and disabled toilets / gender neutral toilet available. Parking could be in a public car park close to the church but this is quite small so I expect would fill up quickly so other public car park/s might need to be used. Pleasing grounds which are well kept around the building

Beautiful building with friendly staff. Its a real community place where all are made welcome. From quiet space, personal prayer, community services to Music events and exhibitions. Watching the peregrine Falcon webcam is fascinating. Good bookshop and it also has a lovely cafe!

I visited the church whilst there was an exhibition on, Luke Jerram’s sculpture, “Gaia”. Interesting and pretty church, not huge but a reasonable size. Cannot comment on religion as wasn't the purpose of visit.

As a bellringer at the Minster we had an advanced viewing of both the earth and the moon. Excellent setting for this type of exhibition.

There is a small cafe just inside.Went for lunch there with Claire,and the people there were friendly and helpful lots of nice things to eat.There was also an exhibition of the world there too.
