Alliance Francaise d'Oxford

Alliance Francaise offers wonderful children's workshops and camps which my daughter loves. She started with a Christmas workshop and this summer attended the Summer Camp week. She couldn't wait to arrive, enjoyed all of the activities and excursions and came home full of everything she's learned and wanting to share and look at the worksheets with me. The staff are friendly, welcoming and professional - they are very good at teaching French in a way that facilitates engagement. Please put on more camps/dates!

Very grateful to the Alliance Francaise, particularly Maeva, for helping me get my rather rusty French up to a much better level in a few lessons at very short notice in preparation for an interview. The lessons were absolutely to the point and my speaking confidence improved enormously over the course of two weeks. Lovely friendly people and nothing too much trouble. I was successfully offered the postion!My daughter also had excellent private lessons with them this summer to prepare her for her third year studying in Switzerland.

I can't praise the teaching at the Alliance Francaise highly enough. My daughter was finding French boring, difficult and confusing at school. After just one term, she is more confident, understands French grammar better and -- best of all -- loves her lessons. Thank you so much to her lovely teacher, Charlotte, and all the other staff.

I found the French language course that I took recently was really interesting & enjoyable, although I did find it hard at times to take all the information in as I'm probably only at A1 level and would need more lessons to truly benefit from it.You get given tasks to do including speaking, listening, reading, writing and interacting with the other students.Note pad books are provided and the teacher I had was very good at explaining things.All in all it was an enjoyable experience.

I approached Alliance Francaise d'Oxford because I have a French exam soon - very soon! They quickly introduced me to Marcelle who is a native French speaker and an experienced teacher.My lessons with Marcelle were both enjoyable and helpful. She focussed on my weaknesses (there were a few to chose from!) and gave me advice on exam technique. Her particular strength is that she is encouraging. She did correct my errors but did so in a way which was supportive rather than intimidating. I would finish each lesson aware of the progress which I had made rather than focussing solely on the number of mistakes.I would highly recommend Marcelle as a teacher and would be very happy to continue with my lessons with her once I have recovered from my exam.

I am thoroughly enjoying the A1 beginners' class in French. Charlotte is an excellent teacher--bright, clear, supportive, and fun. She establishes an atmosphere that puts everyone at ease, and is sensitive to the pace of the group. Learning French grammar has been far more interesting and fun than I had expected it to be. The class has been a very engaging experience. I recommend it.

I really enjoyed the current affairs conversation class. It was a great way to maintain my fluency and learn more about French culture and politics. The instructor, Maeva, is lovely & engaging and tailored each week’s topic to our interests. Highly recommend!

My son absolutely loved French Camp! There were fun activities planned all week, picking fruits and making a cake, a trip to the museum learning about animals, a trip to the meadow making artwork with wildflowers and an arts and sports day. Each day he would show me his workbook and what he learned/made. His French also improved. He will definitely be attending again next year and if it's offered again sooner, then we'll sign him up!

I have taken both short and longer courses at Alliance Francaise and both were excellent. The teacher was very impressive, and even inspirational. The classes at the Alliance are small and the quality of the education very high. I would recommend Alliance Francaise very highly to anyone interesting in acquiring or improving their French language skills. I might also add that the course are excellent value.

I attend one of AF Oxford's two lunchtime classes at our office an enjoy the lessons enormously. The teacher is enthusiastic and creative and she caters well for our different levels of ability. A few years ago one of my children had lessons from another AF Oxford teacher and she did a wonderful job teaching him.
