Patrick literally gave me my life back, he is straight talking but empathetic and honest , I wouldn't trust any one else with my life as I do with Patrick, 2 years of pain and failed pain reliving procedures with other surgeons, Patrick worked his magic and the moment I woke up I had the use of my left toes back immediately and my pins and needles where gone. Any one looking at spinal fusion especially in your early 30's like me, when others scare you and refuse to do anything, the only advice I can give is talk to Patrick and get your life back. The London Clinic was great too, fantastic staff and great care.

When I first started having issues with my neck from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, I went to other surgeons before settling on Dr. McKenna...I chose Dr. McKenna because he treats the PATIENT not the scans. He listens and is willing to think critically on what treatment option is best for the patient WITHOUT being unsafe. I have my neck mobility back and I'm able to start participating in sports again safely because of him. I would recommend him to my family and friends without hesitation. Go see him if you are in pain!

Patrick McKenna has operated on me twice now. He is an excellent surgeon who takes the time to explain everything in great detail, outline the options and guide you through the procedures until you have fully understood them and are in a position to make a decision as to which course of action you wish him to pursue for you. He fits you on to his list very quickly - in a matter of days from your consultation, if that is what you want, so there's no waiting around. He does a neat job with very unobtrusive operation scars. I would recommend him to anyone who has spinal issues.

After undergoing a full disc replacement surgery at L5/S1 with Patrick, I’m genuinely astounded by the results. Before recommending surgery, he spent significant time understanding my history and providing a confident diagnosis. Thanks to him, I’ve been pain-free and even completed a 5,000-mile solo bike journey across Europe - something I couldn’t have imagined pre-surgery. His meticulous care and deep understanding have not only revitalized my physical well-being but allowed me to cherish more moments with my family. I wholeheartedly trust and recommend Patrick for his unparalleled expertise and compassionate care. Thank you Patrick!

Mr McKenna properly listened, reviewed the MRI scans, discussed the diagnosis and then advised on the surgery required and risks involved in an very engaging and professional manner whilst displaying a terrific sense of humour. The surgical procedure was a resounding success and he has completely changed my life for the good. Just a few weeks ago I couldn't stand upright or walk without severe pain. I'm now off medication, pain free, upright and walking freely with an agreed plan back to full fitness. I have no hesitation in recommending him and his team and thank them for their care.

Having had back surgery in 1996 (L4-L5-Hip fusion), my right SI joint grew in pain from about 2015. I saw Mr McKenna and he treated it using different treatments that grew in scale but did not provide a permanent solution. Hence in June 2023 he did an SI joint fusion on me and this did the trick. An instant removal of pain that has given me back a high quality of life. I was amazed at how dramatic and fast the improvement was. Mr McKenna is an excellent spinal surgeon. He knows his stuff and is very empathetic, explaining things to you in a language you understand. I also appreciated how he went through an escalating series of procedures to find the one that worked. I highly recommend him.

I am so grateful to have been recommended to Patrick McKenna after seeing 3 other consultants who said that they could not help me. He understood my pain and offered me 2 surgical options. He was very certain after looking at my MRI results what was causing my pain. He offered a test to reaffirm this which i declined to have. He took the time to explain fully both procedures, the risks and the benefits comprehensively. He was compassionate, concise and confident. I left there in no doubt that i was in safe hands and my decision to have surgery with him was easy. My options were disc fusion L4-L5 (ALIF) or a lumbar disc replacement. I opted for the disc replacement. I had the surgery very swiftly and am now 15 weeks post op and recovering extremely well. My pre-op pain has gone completely. The recovery was painful but so worth it. The pre-op, surgery and post op advice and care has been faultless. Choosing to have back surgery is a huge decision but i would have no hesitation in recommending Patrick McKenna. He has given me my life back.

Fantastic doctor. This man listens to you and explains in as much detail as you need. He's a surgeon I would (and have) trust with my life. I may need some very dodgy spinal surgery in the future and Patrick is the only one I'd trust to do it. I can't recommend him highly enough.

A life changing experience! I had a long standing problem with compressed discs in my cervical spine resulting in near on paralysis in my legs. I had a consultation with Patrick McKenna and felt completely at ease with his advice. Patrick showed complete empathy with my situation and made me feel totally at ease with what the procedure involved and the realistic prospects of recovery thereafter. I have never had an operation before and was naturally nervous but from the moment I came round, from the general anaesthetic, I was blown away by the result and the fact that apart from a sore throat (like a bad cold) I had no pain. Within 24hrs I was up walking and received exceptional aftercare. Just over two weeks on, I’m now walking well and working on leg strengthening exercises which improve matters on a daily basis. I feel a completely different person to the one who was wheel chaired into surgery and feel blessed to have my mobility back. Patrick is an exceptional surgeon and a lovely man, with a wonderful team around him including his incredibly helpful Medical Secretary Claire. I would highly recommend him to anybody considering back surgery.

An utter butcher. AVOIDI was booked in for an ALIF and PLIF (front and back fusion) with Patrick McKenna. My pain was moderate pre-op, so was advised that the above surgeries had a 99% success rate. The side effects were not explained to me yet I seem to have suffered almost every one imaginable.Post-op I was in excruciating pain and had to have around the clock nurse in my room. When I left hospital a week later there was a couple of days I felt better (probably a slow release nerve blocker injection after the op I've now been advised) but within a couple of weeks the pain got increasingly worse and has continued to become unbearable 24 hours a day. I am now 5 years post-op and still in massive pain, taking painkillers pretty much every hour. It has ruined my life & I have been unable to work or sleep properly since. Needless to say, after charging me for further appointments and scans/x-rays etc. Mr McKenna has done absolutely nothing to sort this out, despite many emails and I have been forced to take legal action against him. I have seen several other surgeons since (at other hospitals obviously), and all have agreed that the operation was a failure and several have suggested that some of the metalwork has either moved, causing a piece of my spine to break, or wasn't even put in the right place to begin with!I now have no feeling down my left leg, limited feeling in my right and an ache in my groin like I've been kicked there repeatedly, plus several other side-effects and a massive increase in pain.AVOID THIS BODGER AT ALL COSTS
